Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Possible electric shock due to damaged cables, plugs or housing, or exposure to moisture.
  • Overheating and fire if the charger is covered, its vents are obstructed, or it is used on flammable surfaces.
  • Damage to the battery or charger from using incompatible models or voltages.
  • Burns from contact with surfaces that may become hot during charging.
  • Short circuit due to the presence of metal filings, metallic dust or other conductive objects in the connectors.
  • Leakage, smoke or strong odours in the event of battery failure during charging.
  • Trips or falls caused by cables laid across walkways.
  • Equipment damage if operated at extreme temperatures.

Safe use

  • Verify compatibility between charger, battery, mains voltage and plug type before connecting.
  • Inspect the cable, plug and housing; do not use the equipment if it shows cuts, cracks, scorching or looseness.
  • Place the charger on a stable, dry, non-flammable surface; do not cover it and keep its air vents clear.
  • Use indoors unless expressly rated for outdoor use; avoid rain, splashes and condensation.
  • Plug directly into a suitable socket; avoid overloaded power strips and extension leads that are coiled or of poor quality.
  • Keep the area free of dust and metal shavings; do not rest tools or objects on the charger or the battery while charging.
  • Insert and remove the battery without forcing it, respecting the connector orientation.
  • Allow the battery to cool after heavy use before starting to charge.
  • Monitor the process: if you notice excessive heat, sparking, strong odour, smoke or swelling, disconnect and move the assembly to a ventilated, non-flammable location.
  • When finished, remove the battery and unplug the charger if it will not be used.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the charger in a dry, cool and ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Avoid leaving it in vehicles exposed to the sun or intense cold.
  • Unplug before cleaning; use a dry cloth or a soft brush to remove dust. Do not use liquids or aerosols.
  • Keep the connectors and vents clean; do not block the air inlets.
  • Coil the cable without tension and without making knots; protect the plug and connectors from impacts.
  • Periodically check for deformations, discolouration or a burning smell; if these appear, stop using it.
  • Store away from combustible materials and from dust or metal filings.
  • Do not place objects on top of the charger or store it crushed.

Restrictions on use

  • Not a toy: keep the charger and batteries out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Do not open, modify or attempt to repair; internal interventions can be dangerous.
  • Do not use with batteries that are wet, dropped or damaged, swollen, leaking or of unknown origin.
  • Do not charge in atmospheres with flammable vapours, combustible dust, or near easily flammable materials.
  • Do not cover the charger or enclose it in boxes or cupboards while charging.
  • Do not use outdoors unless indicated by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use adapters, transformers or accessories not specified for the charger-battery set.
  • Do not continue use if the charger, cable or battery become abnormally hot or emit unusual odours.
  • Do not leave charging unattended for long periods or overnight.
  • Do not use sockets or plugs that are loose, sparking or show signs of burning.
