Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • High-speed ejection of stones, branches and debris that can cause injury or damage.
  • Eye and respiratory irritation from airborne dust and pollen.
  • Exposure to high noise levels that can damage hearing.
  • Prolonged hand-arm vibration causing fatigue and numbness.
  • Burns from hot surfaces on petrol models and from the hot airstream.
  • Risk of electric shock on corded or battery models if they get wet or are damaged.
  • Trips and loss of balance due to cables, straps or uneven ground.
  • Inhalation of fumes and exhaust odours on petrol models.
  • Damage to vehicles, windows or plants from a misdirected airstream.

Safe use

  • Inspect the area and remove stones, glass or loose objects before starting.
  • Wear sealed safety goggles, hearing protection, gloves and non-slip footwear; add a dust mask if dust is present.
  • Keep a safe distance from people and pets; do not direct the air towards them.
  • Hold the blower with both hands and adopt a stable stance; adjust the strap correctly.
  • Start at low speed and increase only if necessary to maintain control.
  • Do not insert hands or objects into the nozzle; disconnect and wait until it has come to a complete stop before clearing blockages.
  • Avoid using it in the rain or on very wet surfaces; with corded models, keep the cable behind you and away from the tube.
  • With battery models, use the charger specified by the manufacturer and do not use batteries that are damaged, swollen or hot.
  • With petrol models, start and operate outdoors; do not smoke and avoid inhaling exhaust gases.
  • Work with good lighting and visibility; stop if the wind prevents control of the airstream.
  • Take regular breaks to reduce fatigue and exposure to vibration.

Storage and maintenance

  • Unplug from the mains or remove the battery before cleaning, adjusting or changing accessories.
  • Allow to cool completely before handling or storing.
  • Regularly clean the tube and the intake/outlet grilles to prevent blockages; remove debris with tools, not with your hands.
  • Check that the housing, nozzles, straps and fixings are intact; replace damaged parts.
  • Keep cables and extension leads in good condition; do not use if they are frayed or have loose plugs.
  • Charge batteries in a dry, ventilated place on a non-flammable surface, and disconnect when finished; store batteries in a cool, dry location, away from sunlight, moisture and metal objects.
  • For petrol models, switch off, allow to cool and refuel outdoors; clean up spills and store fuel in suitable containers, tightly sealed and away from heat sources.
  • Store the blower in a dry place, out of the reach of children and protected from dust and moisture.
  • If you notice unusual vibration, strange odours or overheating, stop using it and check for possible obstructions or wear.

Usage restrictions

  • For adult use only; do not allow minors to operate it and always supervise beginners.
  • Do not use indoors or in poorly ventilated spaces; petrol models must be used outdoors only.
  • Do not work from ladders, roofs or unstable surfaces; keep both feet on the ground.
  • Do not operate near flames, embers, solvents or highly flammable materials.
  • Do not use to move hot ash, chemicals or materials not recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not modify the tool or remove guards or shields.
  • Do not wear loose clothing, dangling jewellery or loose hair that could get caught.
  • Do not use if you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that affects alertness.
  • Stop the machine if someone enters the work area or if animals appear.
  • Do not carry the blower by the cable or the tube or leave it running unattended.
