Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts and lacerations from contact with the moving blade or during handling.
- Kickback and loss of control if the blade binds or the material pinches the cut.
- Ejection of splinters, chips and dust that can injure eyes and skin or impede breathing.
- Electric shock hazard due to damaged cables, wet plugs, or use in damp environments.
- Noise and vibration that can cause fatigue and discomfort with prolonged exposure.
- Minor burns from the blade or parts that remain hot after cutting.
- Fire or accidental ignition near flammable materials or with airborne dust.
- Damage from nails, screws, internal stresses in the material, or hidden cables/pipes.
Safe use
- Before starting, inspect the tool and blade: they must be clean, securely fastened, free of cracks or deformation, and suitable for the material to be cut.
- Unplug from the mains or remove the battery before changing the blade, adjusting guides, cleaning, or clearing jams.
- Wear appropriate eye, hearing and respiratory protection; closed-toe footwear. Avoid loose clothing and tie back hair. Use gloves only for handling blades and cleaning; do not wear them during cutting.
- Hold the tool firmly with both hands and maintain a stable stance. Secure the workpiece with clamps on a solid, clear surface.
- Keep the power lead or battery pack away from the line of cut and the work area to avoid snagging or accidental cutting.
- Allow the blade to reach full speed before entering the material. Do not force the machine; guide the cut with steady, moderate pressure.
- Avoid twisting the tool in the cut and ensure the material does not close the kerf or pinch the blade to reduce the risk of kickback.
- Check that the cutting area is free of nails, screws, cables or pipes. Work with good lighting.
- If the model permits, connect a dust extraction system or work in a well-ventilated area to reduce dust.
- After finishing the cut, wait for the blade to come to a complete stop before removing the tool or setting it down on the table.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean the tool after use and remove dust from ventilation slots and moving parts. Store with the blade guard fitted if present.
- Periodically check the condition of the cable, plug, casing, switch and fixings. Do not use the saw if it has damage or loose parts.
- Replace worn, dull or warped blades immediately. Use only compatible blades in good condition.
- Lubrication, adjustments and replacement of brushes or accessories according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not make modifications.
- Store in a dry place, out of reach of children and away from moisture or heat sources. Unplug from the mains or remove the battery before storing.
- For battery models, use only compatible chargers and store batteries in a cool, ventilated place, with no direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
Usage restrictions
- For use only by adults familiarised with the tool. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Do not use the saw in rain, on wet floors or in very damp environments. Do not use it in atmospheres with combustible dust or flammable vapours.
- Do not block, remove or modify guards, covers or safety devices. Do not start the tool with the blade in contact with the material.
- Do not cut live cables, pressurised pipes, or unknown materials, or materials the blade is not designed to cut.
- Do not work on ladders, unstable surfaces, or above shoulder height.
- Do not use the tool if you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that reduces alertness.
- Do not leave the saw plugged in or with the battery installed when not in use, and do not transport it with your finger on the trigger.
