Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Finger trapping in hinges and latches.
  • Cuts or punctures from sharp or pointed tools that are not properly secured.
  • Dropping the case or spillage of contents during opening.
  • Injuries from overexertion or from handle failure when carrying excessive weight.
  • Trips from leaving the case in walkways or from small parts falling onto the floor.
  • The case being thrown forward under braking if left unsecured in a vehicle.
  • Deterioration due to moisture or corrosion that could compromise the safety of the tools.
  • Risk to children from access to small parts or sharp items.

Safe use

  • Before use, check handles, latches and hinges; do not carry if there is any looseness, cracks, or if the latches do not close securely.
  • Arrange and secure tools; protect blades and points; place small parts in closed compartments.
  • Open and close on a stable, level surface; keep the latches locked before lifting or moving.
  • Distribute the weight evenly and do not overload; if heavy, split the contents across several cases.
  • Lift with both hands using safe manual handling technique; wear closed footwear and, if the weight warrants it, gloves or safety footwear.
  • Keep the case out of walkways; do not leave it open unattended.
  • In a vehicle, place it in the boot and secure it to prevent movement.
  • Do not use the case as a seat, step or platform.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store in a dry, clean and ventilated place, away from extreme heat and direct sunlight.
  • Remove dust, filings and moisture before closing; dry tools before storing them.
  • Periodically inspect handles, latches, hinges, trays and corners; if there are breaks or deformations, stop using it until repaired or replaced.
  • If appropriate, lightly lubricate hinges and latches, avoiding excess.
  • Keep small parts in labelled boxes or bags inside the case to prevent spillages.
  • Store at a height that allows lifting without straining the back and away from edges from which it could fall.
  • If children are present, keep the case closed and out of their reach; consider a keyed lock if it contains sharp items.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not exceed the load capacity indicated by the manufacturer nor carry loads that prevent a secure closure.
  • Do not modify by drilling, cutting or removing reinforcements that could weaken the structure or the latches.
  • Do not use to carry bulk liquids, corrosive substances, hot, burning or spill-prone materials.
  • Do not hang the case by the handle on railings, scaffolding or points not designed for that purpose.
  • Do not store food, drinks, medicines or children's items together with tools.
  • Do not allow use by minors; handling by inexperienced users must be carried out under adult supervision.
  • Do not leave the case on unstable surfaces, table edges, scaffolding or places exposed to vibration.
