Usage Warnings

Power Inverters

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Electric shock when handling damaged plugs, terminals or cables.
  • Overheating and fire due to overload, insufficient ventilation or the use of unsuitable cables.
  • Sparks and electrical arcing when connecting to batteries or direct current sources; reversed polarity may damage the equipment.
  • Damage to connected devices due to start-up surges, unstable voltages or incompatibilities with the inverter output.
  • Burns from surfaces and components that reach high temperatures during operation.
  • Risk of impacts, falls or short circuits if the inverter is not securely fixed in vehicles or areas subject to vibration.

Safe use

  • Check the manufacturer-specified power and input/output voltage and allow a safety margin.
  • Verify the supply voltage and polarity before connecting; make connections with the inverter switched off.
  • Place the inverter on a stable, well-ventilated surface; do not cover it and keep the vents and the fan clear.
  • Connect to the direct current source first and then the appliances; when disconnecting, remove the appliances first and then the source.
  • Use cables in good condition and of adequate cross-section; avoid damaged extension leads and do not daisy-chain power strips.
  • Do not exceed the continuous power or permitted surge ratings; connect high-power appliances one at a time.
  • Keep the equipment dry and your hands clean and dry; avoid splashes and condensation.
  • In vehicles, secure the inverter and route the cables away from edges, heat and moving parts; ensure secure connections to minimise vibration.
  • During prolonged use, monitor temperature, unusual noises or odours; stop the equipment if any anomaly occurs.
  • If powering sensitive electronic equipment, verify its compatibility with the inverter output as specified by the manufacturers of those devices.

Storage and maintenance

  • Disconnect from the power source and allow it to cool before handling or storing.
  • Store in a dry, clean and ventilated place, away from dust, moisture, oils, vibration and sources of heat or flame.
  • Keep the vents and fan clean with a dry cloth or gentle air; do not use cleaning liquids.
  • Periodically inspect cables, external fuses, connectors and casing; replace any damaged or overheated components.
  • Keep the inverter disconnected when not in use; if powered from a battery, avoid deep discharges by keeping the battery in good condition.
  • Check that connections are tight and that there is no corrosion on posts and terminals.

Usage restrictions

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets; for use only by adults familiar with its operation.
  • Do not use with equipment that exceeds the rated power or with motors that require surges beyond the inverter’s capacity.
  • Never connect to wall sockets or to the building’s electrical installation; do not backfeed the mains.
  • Do not use outdoors or in damp environments unless the product is expressly designed for it.
  • Do not cover, pierce, modify or obstruct the ventilation; do not place on flammable materials.
  • Do not use in explosive atmospheres or in the presence of vapours, gases or combustible dust.
  • Do not use if it shows signs of impact, a cracked casing, frayed cables, loose plugs, a burning smell or irregular operation.
  • Do not use for life support or in applications where a failure could cause serious harm.
