Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Electrocution due to damaged, wet or poorly connected cables, plugs or terminals.
  • Overheating and fire from overloading unsuitable extension leads, adaptors or extension blocks.
  • Serious risk of backfeeding into the mains if generators are connected without an appropriate transfer switch.
  • Fire and burns when handling fuel (spills, flammable vapours and sparks).
  • Burns from contact with accessories near the exhaust or engine (pipes, heat shields, silencers).
  • Entrapment, cuts or impacts during the installation of wheel kits, frames or mounts.
  • Damage to the generator or connected equipment due to incompatibility of voltage, current, plug type or polarity.

Safe use

  • Verify the accessory’s compatibility with your generator (connector type, voltage, current and permissible power) before use.
  • Visually inspect cables, plugs, sockets and enclosures; do not use the accessory if you see cracks, exposed conductors, heat discolouration or looseness.
  • Connect and disconnect with the generator switched off and unloaded; wait for components near the exhaust to cool before touching them.
  • Use outdoor-rated extension leads of suitable cross-section and length; fully unwind them and keep connections raised and dry.
  • Do not modify plugs or make improvised splices; use adaptors and distribution units designed for use with generators.
  • Distribute loads and observe the accessory’s maximum current rating; use overcurrent and residual-current protection where appropriate.
  • For transfer switches, wall sockets or fixed connections, use a qualified electrician for installation and testing.
  • When handling fuel, use suitable containers, ventilate the area, switch off the generator and avoid flames or sparks; clean up any spill immediately.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store accessories in a dry, clean, ventilated place, away from moisture, dust and direct sunlight.
  • Protect plugs and connectors with caps or covers; prevent them from getting dirty or wet.
  • Coil cables without kinks or knots, do not place weight on them, and secure them with soft ties.
  • Periodically check the condition of insulation, contacts, fasteners and enclosures; immediately replace any damaged part with compatible spares.
  • Clean with a dry cloth; do not use aggressive solvents or high-pressure water on electrical connections.
  • If the accessory includes a battery or charger, observe polarity, avoid short circuits and store it in a cool place; carry out maintenance charging as indicated by the manufacturer.
  • If using covers or enclosures, ensure they are clean and dry to prevent condensation and corrosion.
  • Store fuel in suitable, tightly closed containers, in ventilated areas and away from heat sources and direct light.

Usage restrictions

  • Do not exceed the accessory’s rated current or power, and do not use coiled cables under load.
  • Do not use electrical connections outdoors without protection against rain or splashes; never immerse cables or plugs.
  • Do not connect the generator to the household installation without a transfer switch installed by qualified personnel; avoid backfeeding via plugs.
  • Do not daisy-chain adaptors or multi-way units that may cause loose connections or overheating.
  • Do not cover the generator’s air inlets or outlets with covers or enclosures during operation, nor duct the exhaust into enclosed spaces.
  • Do not handle moving or hot parts without suitable gloves and without first allowing sufficient cooling time.
  • Do not allow use by children; supervise inexperienced persons during installation or operation.
  • Do not use accessories for lifting or moving unless they are intended for that purpose; use wheel kits on firm, level surfaces.
