Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Overheating of the equipment after intensive use or direct exposure to the sun.
- Eye damage from looking at the sun or other intense lights through the optical viewfinder.
- Deterioration of the sensor and components when pointing the lens at the sun, laser beams or very powerful light sources.
- Risks associated with lithium batteries: excessive heat, leakage, swelling or fire if damaged or improperly charged.
- Electrical hazard if faulty chargers are used or if there is moisture in connectors.
- Drops, impacts and finger pinches from covers, battery compartments, pop-up flash or moving mechanisms.
- Trips and tugs caused by poorly placed straps, cables or tripods.
- Ingress of water, sand or dust that may cause malfunctions and corrosion.
- Discomfort or glare from using the flash at close range, especially for babies, sensitive people and animals.
- Data loss if power is interrupted or the card is removed during recording.
Safe use
- Never look at the sun or intense lights through the viewfinder; avoid keeping the camera pointed at the sun for extended periods.
- Avoid framing laser beams, welding or other highly concentrated light sources: they can permanently damage the sensor.
- Use the wrist or neck strap and secure the camera on the tripod to prevent falls; keep cables and straps tidy to avoid tripping.
- Charge the battery on a stable, non-flammable surface, without covering the charger or the camera, and with good ventilation.
- Use compatible batteries, chargers and cables; do not charge or use the camera if the battery is swollen, damaged or hot to the touch.
- Keep the port, battery and card compartment covers securely closed before exposing the equipment to dust, splashes or moisture.
- Change lenses in a clean, dry environment, with the camera switched off and facing downwards to reduce dust ingress.
- Do not fire the flash very close to eyes; increase distance indoors and with babies, sensitive people or animals.
- Avoid using the camera while driving, cycling or performing activities that require your attention.
- Do not remove the card or switch off the camera while photos or videos are being saved; back up frequently.
- If the equipment becomes excessively hot, stop using it and allow it to cool before continuing.
- When mounting the camera on vehicles, helmets or supports, use appropriate mounts and check the attachment regularly.
Storage and maintenance
- Store the camera in a dry, ventilated and dust-protected place, inside a padded case.
- Avoid extreme temperatures and sudden changes; do not leave it in the car in the sun or in intense cold.
- When moving from a cold to a warm environment, keep the camera switched off inside the bag for a few minutes to reduce condensation.
- If it gets wet, switch it off immediately, remove the battery and card, dry the exterior and let it dry completely before switching it on; do not apply direct heat.
- Clean the lens and screen with a microfibre cloth and an air blower; avoid harsh liquids and paper that could scratch.
- For prolonged storage, remove the battery and store it partially charged in a cool, dry place; recharge it periodically.
- Regularly check the condition of straps, shoe mounts, tripod screws and covers; replace any damaged items.
- Keep the battery and card contacts clean and dry; do not force slots or threads.
- If the manufacturer provides software updates, follow their instructions and apply only files from trusted sources.
Restrictions on use
- Not a toy: keep out of the reach of young children and avoid the use of straps around children’s necks.
- Do not use or charge the camera if it shows knocks, cracks, deformations or signs of internal moisture.
- Do not use it in environments with flammable gases, vapours or dust.
- Do not submerge it or expose it to heavy rain unless the product clearly specifies this; even then, rinse off any salt water and dry afterwards.
- Do not cover the camera or the charger during charging or intensive use.
- Do not attempt to open, modify or puncture the camera, the battery or the charger; avoid incompatible accessories.
- Do not aim the flash or assist lights at drivers, machinery operators or skittish animals.
- Follow battery transport guidelines when travelling and at airports; protect the terminals to prevent short circuits.
