Toasters & Sandwich Makers
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Burns from very hot surfaces, plates and heating elements, as well as from steam when opening sandwich makers or grills.
- Fire or smoke due to build-up of crumbs and greasy residues, overheating or food becoming stuck.
- Electric shock from contact with water, splashes or use with a damaged cable/plug.
- Drops or tip-overs if placed on unstable surfaces; pulling on the cable.
- Finger trapping in the hinges or latches of sandwich makers.
- Damage from inserting metal objects into the toaster slots.
Safe use
- Place the appliance on a stable, dry, heat-resistant surface with clear space around it. Keep it away from curtains, walls and flammable materials.
- Use the appliance indoors and in dry areas. Keep hands and the surface dry when plugging in or unplugging.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while in operation. If smoke or an unusual odour appears, cancel the cycle and unplug when safe.
- Do not insert utensils or fingers into the slots. If the bread gets stuck, unplug and allow it to cool slightly before removing it with non-metallic utensils.
- For sandwich makers, do not force the lid closed or overfill with liquid fillings that may spill.
- For toasters, avoid toasting bread with butter or other spreads already applied and do not use covers or sleeves during operation.
- Keep the cable away from edges and hot areas. Unplug by pulling the plug, not the cable.
- Allow to cool completely before moving, cleaning or storing. Use heat protection if necessary.
Storage and maintenance
- Unplug and allow to cool completely before cleaning. Do not immerse the appliance or rinse it under the tap.
- Clean the exterior with a slightly damp cloth and dry afterwards. Remove crumbs and residues regularly; empty the crumb tray where applicable.
- If the plates are removable, clean them according to the manufacturer’s instructions; avoid abrasive scourers.
- Periodically check the condition of the cable and plug. If you notice damage, a burning odour or abnormal operation, stop using the appliance.
- Store in a dry, ventilated place, without any weight on top that could deform the plates or slots. Do not wind the cable tightly and avoid contact with sharp edges.
Usage restrictions
- Domestic use. Not intended for prolonged, continuous operation as in professional environments.
- Do not use the appliance outdoors, in bathrooms, near sinks or on wet surfaces.
- Do not cover the slots or plates during use (aluminium foil, cloths, lids or other accessories not designed for the model).
- Do not heat plastic wrappers, paper, bags or objects other than foods suitable for this type of appliance. Avoid food pieces that are too small and could fall inside.
- Do not use the product if it has been dropped, shows cracks or deformation, or if the latch/hinge does not close properly.
- Not suitable for use by young children. Keep children and pets away during operation and cooling. Persons with reduced capabilities should only use it under supervision.
