Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Burns from contact with the grill, lid, hot embers or flames.
  • Fire caused by sparks, hot fat or accidental tipping.
  • Inhalation of smoke and carbon monoxide in poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Leaks or sudden ignition in gas models when handling cartridges or connections.
  • Instability due to uneven surfaces or gusts of wind.
  • Cuts or pinching injuries when unfolding, folding or assembling parts.
  • Damage to heat-sensitive surfaces (wood, dry grass, plastic tables).

Safe use

  • Use the barbecue outdoors only, in an open, well-ventilated area; never indoors, in garages, tents, caravans or enclosed balconies.
  • Place it on a firm, level, heat-resistant surface, away from walls, awnings, furniture, plants and combustible materials.
  • Secure legs and latches before lighting. Avoid use in strong winds and position the barbecue so the wind does not blow flames towards people or objects.
  • When lighting, use only fuels and firelighters suitable for barbecues. Do not use petrol, alcohol or flammable aerosols.
  • For gas models, ensure cartridges and connections are in good condition and properly tightened; check for possible leaks with soapy water and light with the lid open, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Do not add liquid accelerants onto lit coals. Control fat flare-ups by closing the lid or temporarily removing the food; do not pour water onto hot fat.
  • Do not leave the barbecue unattended while it is lit or hot. Keep children and pets at a safe distance.
  • Use long-handled utensils and heat-resistant gloves. Avoid loose clothing that could catch fire.
  • Do not move, fold or transport the barbecue while it is lit or still hot.
  • Extinguish and allow to cool completely. Dispose of embers and ash in a metal container and ensure they are cold before disposal.

Storage and maintenance

  • Allow to cool completely before cleaning or storing. Empty grease and ash trays to prevent flare-ups and unpleasant odours.
  • Clean grates and surfaces regularly to reduce grease build-up.
  • Check legs, hinges, latches and handles; replace damaged parts before use.
  • Keep ventilation holes and air inlets clear.
  • Charcoal and briquettes: store in a closed container, in a dry place and away from heat sources.
  • Gas: inspect hoses, seals and cartridges; store cartridges upright, in a cool, ventilated place, out of direct sunlight and away from sources of ignition.
  • Protect the barbecue with a cover only when it is completely cool and dry, to prevent corrosion.
  • For transport, remove embers and ash, disconnect gas cartridges, lock the lids and secure it to prevent movement.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not use indoors or in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces (enclosed canopies, glazed balconies, vehicles, caravans or tents).
  • Do not use on plastic tables, very dry grass, wood or other surfaces that may burn or deform.
  • Do not operate in heavy rain or strong winds.
  • Do not allow use by minors; constant adult supervision is required around the barbecue.
  • Do not place or store near flammable liquids or vapours (solvents, fuels) or next to cylinders or other sources of ignition.
  • Do not cover ventilation outlets or modify the appliance.
  • Do not use fuels or cartridges that are not compatible with the model.
