Usage Warnings

Frying Pans

Warnings and safety precautions

Main risks

  • Burns from contact with the pan body, the handle and lids, and from splashes of oil or steam.
  • Fire or flare-up from overheating oil or heating the empty pan for an extended period.
  • Build-up of smoke and vapours when cooking at excessive temperatures, especially in poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Tip-overs and spills if the pan is not properly centred or the handle is loose, with a risk of falls and burns.
  • Damage to the hob or worktop from impacts, sliding or thermal shock (glass-ceramic/induction).
  • Deterioration of the coating if unsuitable utensils or scourers are used, increasing the risk of sticking and burns.

Safe use

  • Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions before first use.
  • Place the pan stable and centred on the heat source; position the handle facing inwards and away from walkways.
  • Adjust the heat so flames do not rise up the sides or so the hob does not exceed the recommended temperature; avoid heating the empty pan for extended periods.
  • Leave sufficient space in the pan to prevent spill-overs; add liquids and salt gradually to reduce splashing.
  • Pat ingredients dry before frying; use a lid or a splatter guard where possible.
  • Handle the pan with oven gloves or dry cloths; hold the handle firmly when moving it and avoid sudden twists with hot oil.
  • Ventilate the kitchen and use an extractor hood to disperse smoke and vapours.
  • Use utensils compatible with the surface (wood, silicone or others recommended by the manufacturer) to avoid damaging it.
  • Avoid thermal shock: allow it to cool before washing and do not pour cold water onto a hot pan.
  • On induction hobs, check compatibility and place the pan centred on a suitably sized zone.

Storage and maintenance

  • Allow to cool completely before cleaning; avoid sudden temperature changes.
  • Clean according to the manufacturer's instructions, using mild detergent and non-abrasive sponges; dry thoroughly to prevent rust or staining.
  • Periodically check the condition of the handle, screws and rivets; if they are loose or damaged, do not use the pan until it is repaired.
  • If the coating is heavily scratched or peeling, or the base is warped, stop using the pan.
  • Store in a dry place; when stacking, use protectors between pans to prevent rubbing and surface damage.
  • Avoid placing weight on the handles during storage to prevent loosening or deformation.

Usage restrictions

  • Not suitable for microwave use.
  • Use in an oven, under a grill or on a barbecue only if expressly stated by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use metal utensils or abrasive scourers on non-stick surfaces, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not leave the pan unattended when it contains hot oil or fats.
  • Do not use the pan on heat sources that it is not compatible with (e.g., induction if it is not designed for it).
  • Do not carry the pan with very hot oil through crowded areas or over children or pets.
  • Do not use alcohol or other flammable liquids to light or intensify the flame under the pan.
