Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Burns to fingers, scalp, ears or neck from contact with the hot plates, even minutes after switching it off.
- Hair damage (dryness, breakage) due to excessive temperatures or prolonged use on the same area.
- Fire or damage to surfaces if the hot straightener touches textiles, paper, furniture, or is left switched on unattended.
- Electric shock or short circuit due to moisture, wet hands or damaged cable/plug.
- Dropping the appliance or tripping over the cable, with risk of injury or breakage.
- Emission of smoke or odours due to build-up of hair product residues or use near flammable aerosols.
Safe use
- Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific model.
- Use the straightener on clean, completely dry hair, unless the manufacturer expressly states otherwise.
- Start with the lowest effective temperature and increase gradually if necessary. Make quick passes without holding the plates in one spot.
- Detangle the hair and, if desired, apply a suitable heat protectant before use.
- Keep fingers and skin away from the plates; hold the appliance by the cool areas or the handle.
- Place the straightener, while it heats up or cools down, on a stable, dry, heat-resistant surface. Do not cover it.
- Do not leave the appliance switched on or plugged in unattended. Unplug after each use.
- Keep the cable away from the plates and the edge of the surface to prevent falls; unplug by pulling the plug, not the cable.
- Avoid using it near sinks, baths or other sources of water and do not handle it with wet hands.
- Do not use hairspray, aerosols or solvents while the plates are hot, or direct the spray towards the appliance.
- Stop use if you notice a burning smell, sparking, abnormal overheating or unusual vibrations.
Storage and maintenance
- Unplug and allow it to cool completely before storing or cleaning.
- Store in a dry, well-ventilated place, out of reach of children and pets.
- Coil the cable loosely, without stretching or twisting it, and avoid pinching.
- Clean the plates when cold with a soft cloth slightly dampened if necessary; avoid abrasives and do not immerse the appliance in water.
- Periodically remove residues of hair products to prevent smoke and discolouration.
- Regularly check the cable, plug and hinge. If you notice any damage, stop using it and arrange repair or replacement according to the manufacturer.
- For transport, use a heat- and impact-resistant case or pouch. Do not store it while still hot or among textiles.
Restrictions of use
- Product not suitable for use by children. Teenagers only under adult supervision.
- Not to be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or cognitive capabilities without appropriate supervision or assistance.
- Do not use on extensions, wigs or synthetic fibres unless the manufacturer indicates compatibility.
- Do not use near flammable materials or atmospheres (aerosols, alcohol, solvents, curtains).
- Do not use while driving, walking or performing other activities that require attention.
- Do not open, modify or tamper with the appliance.
- Do not use with overloaded multi-sockets or unsuitable extension leads. If the plug or adaptor is damaged, do not use it.
- If the appliance has suffered a heavy drop, inspect it; if there is any visible damage, do not use it.
