Warnings and safety precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts, punctures and abrasions from edges, corners or the teeth of notched trowels.
  • Splashes of mortars, adhesives or plasters that can irritate eyes and skin.
  • Skin irritation from prolonged contact with wet cement or other compounds.
  • Overexertion or repetitive strain injuries to the wrist, elbow and shoulder.
  • Inhalation of dust when scraping, levelling dry material or cleaning residues.
  • Dropped tools or trips from leaving the tool on the floor with slippery residues.
  • Detachment of the handle or blade if there are cracks, loose rivets or wear.
  • Risk of electric shock when working near cables or open boxes with metal tools.

Safe use

  • Check before use: blade straight and free from cracks, handle secure and with no looseness or splinters.
  • Wear abrasion-resistant gloves and safety goggles; wear a mask whenever dust is airborne.
  • Avoid pointing the tool towards your body and keep fingers away from the working edge.
  • Do not use the trowel as a lever, hammer or chisel; it may deform or break.
  • Load only as much material as you can control without straining your wrist; work with stable postures and take breaks.
  • Immediately remove drips and splashes from the floor to prevent slips.
  • Avoid prolonged contact of mortars/adhesives with the skin; wash with soap and water after use.
  • In areas with exposed electrical installations, keep your distance from conductors and avoid contact with energised parts.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean residues before they harden; do not strike the tool to dislodge material.
  • Dry thoroughly after washing to reduce corrosion; store in a dry place.
  • Hang tools or use a sheath to protect the edges and prevent accidental cuts.
  • Do not leave trowels submerged in water or in buckets with mortar or adhesive.
  • Periodically check rivets, screws and handle; replace the tool if there are cracks, deformations or excessive play.
  • Remove burrs with light sanding only if appropriate according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Avoid loads or weights on top that deform the blade, and prolonged exposure to extreme heat or moisture.

Restrictions on use

  • Not suitable for food use or for handling food.
  • Not toys; keep out of reach of children and anyone unfamiliar with them unless supervised.
  • Do not use the tool if it is damaged, deeply rusted or has a loose handle.
  • Do not carry the tool in pockets; use a sheath or tool holder.
  • Do not work at height without securing the tool to prevent it from falling onto people or objects.
  • Do not use with chemicals that require specific protection without the appropriate equipment and without following the instructions for the material being applied.
