Main risks

• Crushing from the load falling due to exceeding capacity, poor placement, or support failure.
• Overturning or movement of the equipment due to uneven ground, vibrations, or lateral forces.
• Pinching and entrapment at moving points, articulated arms, and locking mechanisms.
• Unexpected descent due to leaks or loss of pressure in hydraulic systems.
• Load slippage if contact surfaces are dirty, oily, or misaligned.
• Damage to the vehicle or component from supporting at unsuitable points.
• Burns or cuts when handling hot parts or exposed edges during lifting.
• Impacts from tools or parts falling from the elevated area.

Safe use

• Before use, check that the equipment is intact, with no cracks, deformations or play, and that the rated capacity covers the load weight.
• Work on a firm, level and stable surface; chock the vehicle’s wheels where appropriate.
• Always use the support or lifting points recommended by the vehicle or component manufacturer.
• Centre the load and distribute the weight; when using axle stands, use at least two at the same height for stability.
• Engage mechanical locks and do not rely solely on hydraulic pressure to keep the load raised.
• Raise and lower slowly, without jerks; keep other people clear of the work area.
• Keep contact surfaces clean and dry; use support pads if the design provides for them.
• Do not apply lateral forces, and do not push or strike the load while it is raised.
• Wear gloves, safety footwear and eye protection when there is a risk of entrapment, falling parts or splashes.

Storage and maintenance

• Clean grease, oil and dirt residues from legs, bases and support surfaces after each use.
• Periodically inspect welds, pins, latches, wheels and fasteners; take the equipment out of service if you detect damage or deformation.
• For hydraulic equipment, check for possible leaks and smooth raising and lowering operation; if you observe irregular behaviour, do not use it until it has been inspected.
• Lubricate moving points if specified by the manufacturer and replace wear parts when necessary.
• Store in a dry, ventilated place, protected from moisture and corrosion; avoid placing loads on top that could deform structures.
• Protect labels and capacity markings so they remain legible.
• Transport the equipment unloaded and with mechanisms locked or folded.

Restrictions on use

• Not designed to lift or transport people, nor to be used as a work platform.
• Do not exceed the rated capacity, and do not combine supports of incompatible heights or models that compromise stability.
• Do not use on soft, sloped, slippery or ground with a risk of subsidence.
• Do not work beneath a load supported only by a jack; always support it on suitable axle stands before getting underneath.
• Do not modify, drill, weld or use improvised items (wood, bricks, unsuitable chocks) as supports.
• Do not leave the load raised unattended for prolonged periods, or exposed to vibrations or weather that could destabilise it.
• Keep the equipment out of the reach of children and restrict its use to people familiar with its basic operation.
