Safety warnings and precautions
Key risks
- Inaccurate readings due to poor placement (direct sunlight, heat sources, steam or draughts).
- Damage from moisture, condensation, dust or splashes if the equipment is not protected.
- Device drops or user falls during installation at height; impacts due to inadequate fixing.
- Risks associated with batteries: chemical leakage, overheating, short circuits, or ingestion of button batteries by children or pets.
- Sensor deterioration from touching it, covering the measurement slots, or using harsh cleaning agents.
Safe use
- Place the meter in a representative location, away from radiators, direct sunlight, kitchens, showers and air outlets.
- Allow the equipment to stabilise for a few minutes after moving it to obtain more reliable readings.
- Do not cover or touch the sensor; keep the grilles and measurement openings clear.
- Avoid exposure to rain or splashes unless the model is designed for outdoor use; use housings or guards where appropriate.
- Mount sensors and brackets firmly and level; if using a ladder, place it on a stable surface and avoid overreaching.
- Handle batteries with care: observe the correct polarity, do not mix new and used batteries or different types, and remove them if you will not use the equipment for a prolonged period.
- If condensation appears, switch off the device, remove the batteries and allow it to dry completely before switching back on.
- Make adjustments or calibrations only if provided for by the manufacturer and in accordance with their instructions.
Storage and maintenance
- Store the meter in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures or frost.
- Clean with a soft, dry cloth; avoid alcohol, solvents and jets of compressed air on the sensor.
- Periodically check the battery compartment; replace depleted batteries immediately to prevent leakage.
- If the model allows, check accuracy at reasonable intervals and after impacts, seasonal changes or prolonged storage.
- Protect external sensors and joints against ingress of water and dirt; inspect cables and housings outdoors.
Usage restrictions
- Not intended for safety-critical decisions and not a medical device.
- Do not open, modify or tamper with the interior of the equipment except for the basic operations provided (such as battery replacement).
- Do not use in potentially explosive atmospheres or near flames or intense heat sources.
- Do not immerse or use in the rain without adequate protection; do not place inside showers or saunas.
- Keep out of the reach of children; take special care with button batteries and small parts.
- Do not install near power lines or in unstable locations with a risk of falling.
