Safety warnings and precautions
Primary risks
- Contact with irritant, corrosive or flammable liquids that can cause chemical burns or eye injuries.
- Leaks due to loose connections or degraded seals, posing a risk of spillages, slips and damage to surfaces.
- Violent ejection of fluid due to residual pressure when installing or removing the meter.
- Burns or frostbite from handling fluids at high or very low temperatures.
- Breakage of fragile components (e.g., tubes or sight glasses), with a risk of cuts and contamination of the fluid.
- Fire or explosion in the presence of flammable vapours and ignition sources.
- Incorrect readings due to poor installation, obstructions or miscalibration that may lead to unsafe decisions.
- Damage from water ingress into electrical parts of electronic models, with a risk of failure or overheating.
- Cross-contamination between products (especially in drinking water or food-use applications).
Safe use
- Before use, verify the pressure, temperature, viscosity and fluid type limits specified by the manufacturer.
- Ensure the material compatibility of the meter, gaskets and seals with the fluid to be measured.
- Depressurise and drain the circuit before installing, removing or cleaning the meter; use isolation points where provided.
- Assemble the connections correctly: clean threads, apply the recommended sealant and tighten without over-tightening to avoid damaging the housing.
- Always wear eye protection and suitable gloves; add a mask or face shield if there is a risk of splashes or vapours.
- Work in well-ventilated areas and keep sources of heat, sparks or flames away when the fluid is flammable.
- For electronic models, keep non-submersible components dry and use only the specified power supply.
- Check leak tightness after installation and, if applicable, purge air from the system according to the product instructions.
- Do not force rotors, floats or sensors; in the event of obstructions, flush with a compatible fluid instead of inserting objects.
- Check the condition of upstream filters and strainers to prevent particles that could block or damage the meter.
- For critical measurements, verify the correct zero/adjustment or perform a check against a known reference.
- Avoid cross-contamination by labelling the meter for a specific use when necessary.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean the meter after each use following the product instructions; rinse with a compatible fluid and avoid mixing residues.
- Drain completely before storage to prevent corrosion, odours or damage from freezing.
- Dry the external surfaces and connections; protect ports with caps when available.
- Store in a dry, ventilated place protected from dust, vibration and direct sunlight; avoid extreme temperatures.
- Periodically inspect gaskets, hoses, sight glasses, housings and cables; replace cracked or hardened parts immediately.
- For battery-powered equipment, check the condition of the batteries and remove them if the equipment will not be used for an extended period.
- Carry out verification or calibration at the recommended intervals to maintain the reliability of readings.
- Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive objects for cleaning; opt for soft cloths and compatible products.
- Use only spare parts and accessories recommended for the specific model.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use the meter with fluids, pressures, temperatures or flow rates for which it is not specifically designed.
- Do not use it with drinking water or food products unless it is stated as suitable for that use.
- Do not use it in potentially explosive atmospheres or near flames or sparks when measuring flammable liquids, except with equipment intended for that purpose.
- Do not modify the product or drill, sand or open sealed enclosures.
- Do not use the meter as a shut-off device, safety valve or primary control of the system.
- Do not leave test, filling or purging setups unattended.
- Do not use the equipment if it shows cracks, deformation, leaks, frayed cables or damaged connectors.
- Keep the product out of reach of children and pets.
