Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Accidental inhalation of dust or aerosols during sampling, especially in environments with potentially harmful particles.
  • Cross-contamination when moving the equipment and its accessories between dirty and clean areas.
  • Exposure to internal light/laser sources if the equipment is opened or optical ports are handled.
  • Electrical hazard, overheating or fire when charging batteries or using unsuitable adaptors.
  • Damage due to ingress of liquids, condensation, or coarse dust obstructing the air intake.
  • Falls, knocks or trips due to poorly positioned cables, hoses or tripods.
  • Incorrect readings from use outside the recommended conditions, which may lead to unsafe decisions.
  • Ignition risk if used near flammable gases, vapours or combustible dust.

Safe use

  • Avoid bringing the air intake close to the face and place it in a well-ventilated, stable area, away from sources of heat, sparks and flames.
  • Do not open the casing or look into optical windows or chambers; keep the air inlet and outlet free of obstructions.
  • In areas with potentially hazardous dust, use appropriate respiratory protection and minimise agitation of the material.
  • Direct the air outlet towards a safe area; if the equipment has an exhaust filter, install it correctly.
  • Manage cables, hoses and stands so they do not obstruct walkways, and avoid tugs or the equipment falling over.
  • Do not use the counter in rain, dense fog or with visible condensation unless it is specifically protected for such use.
  • Use only compatible chargers and batteries; charge on non-flammable surfaces and avoid covering the equipment during charging.
  • Before important measurements, perform the basic checks indicated by the manufacturer (e.g., filter condition, connections and flow rate).

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the equipment clean and dry, in its case or in a place protected from impacts, dust, moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Clean the exterior with a slightly damp cloth; do not use solvents, direct pressurised air at the intake, or sharp objects.
  • Check and, if appropriate, replace filters, hoses and accessories when they are dirty, damaged or saturated.
  • Between dirty and clean locations, disassemble and clean or replace the necessary accessories to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Periodically check the condition of the battery and connections; do not use swollen, damaged or leaking batteries.
  • Avoid storing in vehicles or areas with extreme temperatures; if not used for a long time, leave the battery partially charged.
  • Follow the verification and calibration schedule recommended by the manufacturer to maintain the reliability of measurements.

Usage restrictions

  • It is not a medical device or an alarm system; do not use it as the sole criterion for critical safety or health decisions.
  • Do not use in potentially explosive atmospheres or in the presence of flammable gases, vapours or combustible dust unless the equipment is specifically designed for this.
  • Do not insert probes into ducts with fans running or onto hot surfaces without appropriate safety measures.
  • Do not use the equipment to sample corrosive gases, concentrated solvent vapours, very hot smoke or environments with heavy condensation.
  • Do not modify the equipment or use incompatible accessories; do not cover or block the ventilation, inlet or outlet openings.
  • Not suitable for children; use should be by people familiar with the basic operation of the equipment and its working environment.
