Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Electric shock or short circuits during installation or when handling cables and terminals.
  • Overheating or failure if sensors are covered or unsuitable power supplies are used.
  • Falls when working at height, and damage from the device detaching if not securely fixed.
  • False alarms or unwanted activations due to poor placement, direct sunlight, draughts, vibrations or proximity to heat sources.
  • Damage from moisture, dust or rain in models not designed for outdoor use or damp areas.
  • Risk of ingestion or choking from button batteries and small parts.
  • Interference from magnets (in magnetic contacts) with pacemakers or other implanted medical devices.
  • Accidental puncturing of hidden cables or pipes when drilling during installation.

Safe use

  • Switch off the power before connecting, disconnecting or handling cables. Use the power supply specified by the manufacturer.
  • Position the sensor at the recommended height and orientation, avoiding direct sunlight, air vents, heating appliances and areas subject to vibration.
  • Keep the detection field clear and do not cover the optics or grilles. Do not paint the device.
  • Check operation after installation and periodically; adjust sensitivity, timing or detection zones if the model allows.
  • Secure the unit with fixings appropriate to the surface. If using adhesive, clean thoroughly and periodically check the bond.
  • For magnetic contacts, correctly align the sensor and magnet and avoid nearby sources of strong magnetism.
  • With batteries: observe polarity, do not mix types or brands, do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries, and replace them all at the same time when appropriate.
  • For work at height, use a stable ladder and avoid overreaching.
  • Use the device indoors or outdoors only as appropriate for the model and its protection rating.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store sensors in a dry, ventilated place, away from sources of heat, moisture and dust.
  • Clean them with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid solvents, compressed air or direct water spray.
  • Periodically check the condition of fixings, housings, seals, cables and connectors. Replace damaged parts.
  • Regularly check correct operation, especially after relocation or refurbishment of the room.
  • Replace the batteries when the device indicates a low level or if you notice reduced range or false alerts. Remove the batteries if it will not be used for an extended period.
  • If the model allows, keep the software/firmware up to date following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • If the device gets wet, is dropped or suffers an impact, disconnect it, allow it to dry completely and consider replacement if anomalies persist.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not use these devices as the sole system for safety-critical functions (e.g., life protection or emergencies). Use dedicated solutions where required.
  • Do not install in potentially explosive atmospheres or in areas with continuous condensation unless the model is specifically designed for it.
  • Do not modify, drill or open the enclosure, except for the intended access to batteries or fixing points.
  • Do not cover or paint the sensors, or install them behind curtains or objects that block detection.
  • Keep button batteries and small parts out of reach of children and pets; use secured battery covers.
  • Keep magnets and magnetic contacts away from pacemakers or other implants; maintain a safe distance.
  • Avoid use near strong sources of interference (powerful motors, RF equipment) if you observe unstable operation.
  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures or immersion in water unless the model is designed for it.
