Usage Warnings
Liners and Mats for Furniture Protection
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Tripping or snagging if the liner protrudes beyond the furniture or if corners are lifted.
- Objects sliding if the surface is dusty or greasy, or if the liner loses grip.
- Marks, discolouration or colour transfer on varnishes, lacquers or unsealed wood due to prolonged contact.
- Trapped moisture that can lead to mould, wood swelling or unpleasant odours, especially in under-sink areas.
- Interference with vents, hinges, runners or latches if the fit is not correct.
- Adhesive deterioration that may leave residue or detach suddenly.
- Minor cuts when trimming or handling with sharp tools.
- Warping or degradation from exposure to direct heat or intense sunlight through windows.
Safe use
- Measure and mark before cutting; use a firm base, a straight edge and a sharp craft knife, keeping fingers away from the blade.
- Clean and completely dry the furniture surface before placing to improve grip and prevent slippage.
- Test in a discreet area for 24 hours to ensure it does not stain or leave a mark when removed.
- Lay the liner flat, without wrinkles, and trim so it does not rub hinges or runners, nor protrude into walkways.
- If self-adhesive, apply without stretching and avoid bubbles; press down evenly.
- Do not use the liner as structural reinforcement: it does not increase the permissible load of the shelf or drawer.
- Keep the ventilation slots or grilles of appliances placed on top clear; leave space if the equipment requires it.
- Wipe up spills immediately and lift the liner to ventilate the surface until it is completely dry.
Storage and maintenance
- Remove periodically to clean the liner and the surface beneath with a soft cloth and mild soap; dry thoroughly before replacing.
- Avoid abrasive scouring pads, solvents, bleach or cleaners containing chlorine or ammonia.
- Check edges and adhesive; replace if there are cracks, warping, tackiness or a persistent bad odour.
- Store spares in a cool, dry place, protected from the sun; keep them flat or roll them without creases and do not place weight on top.
- Do not immerse self-adhesive versions for prolonged periods; continual moisture degrades the adhesive.
- Dust regularly to maintain grip and prevent micro-abrasions on the furniture surface.
Restrictions of use
- Recommended for indoor use on clean, dry surfaces; do not use outdoors or in areas exposed to extreme temperatures or continuous direct sunlight.
- Do not place on freshly painted, varnished or oiled surfaces until fully cured.
- Avoid direct contact with unwrapped food unless the product expressly states it is suitable for food contact.
- Do not place under appliances that emit heat or require ventilation underneath.
- Do not use as a bath, shower or floor mat; it is not designed for foot traffic or continuous water.
- During cutting and installation, keep out of reach of children and pets; dispose of small offcuts to prevent accidental ingestion.
- Do not use as an ironing surface or as protection against flames or sparks.
