Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electric shock from live handling or faulty connections.
- Ingress of water or dust that may cause short circuits or insulation failure.
- Overheating and burn risk on the luminaire surface or the light source.
- Tipping over or detachment due to inadequate fixings, impacts or wind.
- Trips and knocks due to the low height of bollards, protruding bases or exposed cables.
- Glare that impairs the vision of pedestrians or vehicles.
- Cuts from edges, fixings or damaged glass/plastic diffusers.
- Deterioration due to corrosion or solar radiation that reduces mechanical strength and watertightness.
Safe use
- Confirm that the model is suitable for the location (indoor/outdoor, exposed or sheltered area) and follow the manufacturer’s guidance on protection against water and dust.
- Disconnect the power before installing, cleaning or replacing the light source. If it requires a mains connection, installation must be carried out by qualified personnel.
- Secure the wall-top light or bollard onto a firm, level base, using fixings appropriate to the wall or ground material. Check that it does not move.
- Keep wiring protected (buried or in conduit where applicable) and avoid runs where it could be pinched, pulled tight or form loops that collect water.
- Use only the recommended light source type and wattage. Do not cover the luminaire or obstruct its ventilation areas; keep clearance from combustible materials.
- Aim the light to minimise glare and avoid it shining directly at eye level or towards traffic routes.
- Check for watertightness after installation and after heavy rain. If you notice moisture or water inside, disconnect and do not use the product until it has been inspected.
- For solar models, position the panel with good exposure and free from shade. Do not open or pierce the battery compartment.
Storage and maintenance
- Periodically check screws, anchors, seals, diffusers and wiring. Replace damaged or corroded parts immediately.
- Clean with a soft cloth and soapy water. Avoid solvents, abrasive products and direct high-pressure water jets.
- Remove leaves, dirt, snow or ice that could block drains, cover the luminaire or cause impacts.
- Allow to cool before handling and wear gloves to prevent cuts or burns.
- Replace the light source only with compatible spares specified by the manufacturer. Do not force lamp holders or threads.
- In coastal areas, rinse periodically with fresh water to reduce salt build-up.
- For solar models, keep the panel clean and check the battery condition. If it shows bulging, leaks or an unusual odour, stop using the product.
- If not installed immediately, store in a dry, ventilated place protected from impacts, keeping accessories and screws together.
Restrictions of use
- Do not use the product if it has cracks, loose parts, frayed or exposed cables, or signs of water ingress.
- Do not install in areas subject to immersion or expose to direct water jets (for example, pressure washing), unless expressly indicated by the manufacturer.
- Do not modify the luminaire, drill the housing or cut cables. Do not replace components with non-original parts.
- Do not exceed the maximum recommended light source wattage or cover the luminaire with decorative items, leaves or textiles.
- Do not use the bollard or wall-top light as a support, step or handrail. Do not hang objects from the luminaire.
- Avoid placements that obstruct narrow passageways, ramps or stairs and ensure they are clearly visible.
- Keep out of the reach of children and supervise use in gardens, terraces and walkways.
