Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electric shock from contact with live parts, wet sockets or plugs, or damaged insulation.
- Overheating and fire from covering the power supply, poor ventilation, overloading, or placing it on flammable materials.
- Equipment damage from selecting an incorrect voltage/polarity or using insufficient wattage.
- Short circuits and sparks due to exposed wires, loose connectors, or cables crushed by furniture.
- Minor burns from hot surfaces after prolonged use.
- Trips and falls due to taut cables or cables crossing walkways.
Safe use
- Ensure the input voltage and frequency, as well as the output voltage, current and polarity, match your device’s requirements.
- Connect the connector to the equipment (switched off) first, then plug into the mains. To disconnect, unplug from the mains first.
- Place the power supply on a stable, dry, non-flammable surface; leave space around it for ventilation and do not cover it.
- Do not overload extension leads or multi-way adaptors; use a socket in good condition and avoid daisy-chaining adaptors.
- Inspect the cable and connector regularly; do not use the power supply if it smells of burning, emits unusual noises, shows excessive heat or cracks, or if the cable is damaged. Unplug and allow it to cool if it overheats.
- Keep cables tidy, without tension or forced bends; avoid pinching them with furniture or doors.
- Avoid contact with liquids and do not handle with wet hands.
Storage and maintenance
- Unplug the power supply if you will not be using it for long periods.
- Store it in a dry, clean, well-ventilated place, away from moisture, dust and direct heat.
- Coil the cable without knots or very tight bends; do not stretch it or leave it under weight.
- Clean the casing with a soft, dry cloth, always with the unit unplugged and cool.
- Replace the product if you notice wear to the insulation, looseness in the connector, or heat-related discolouration.
Restrictions on use
- Do not open or modify the power supply; it contains no user-serviceable parts.
- Do not use it outdoors, in bathrooms or in damp areas unless the manufacturer explicitly states it is suitable.
- Do not cover it with clothes, covers or cushions, or enclose it in unventilated spaces.
- Do not use the power supply to charge batteries directly or for equipment other than that specified by the manufacturer.
- Do not connect devices that exceed the rated power, nor use parallel or series connections.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets; supervise its use when children are present.
- Open-frame or DIN-rail models must be mounted in a suitable enclosure and, where indicated by the manufacturer, installed by qualified personnel.
