Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Electric shock when handling the fitting while the mains power is on.
  • Overheating or fire risk from using unsuitable bulbs or covering the fitting.
  • Burns from touching hot shades, diffusers or bulbs after prolonged use.
  • Glass or shade breakage with possible cuts from sharp edges.
  • The fitting falling due to inadequate fixing or the use of wall plugs and screws not suitable for the type of wall or ceiling.
  • Drilling into the wall that may strike hidden cables, pipes or other services.
  • Glare or eye strain if it is poorly oriented or at an unsuitable height.
  • Short circuits in damp areas (bathrooms, outdoors) if the model is not suitable for that environment.

Safe use

  • Switch off the mains power before installing, cleaning or changing the bulb.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use the specified bulb type and wattage.
  • Choose fixings (wall plugs and screws) suitable for the surface material and the weight of the fitting; check it is firmly secured.
  • Keep the fitting away from curtains, textiles and other combustible materials, and do not cover it.
  • Prevent cables from being pinched, under tension or rubbing against sharp edges; route and tidy cables to avoid trip hazards on plug-in models.
  • If it is to be installed on a wall or ceiling with a fixed electrical connection, have installation carried out by a qualified professional.
  • Do not use the product if you detect a smell of burning, sparks, crackling or persistent flickering; switch off and inspect before using again.
  • In bathrooms or outdoors, use only models specifically rated for such areas and position them outside direct splash zones wherever possible.

Storage and maintenance

  • Before cleaning or handling, switch off and allow the bulb and fitting to cool completely.
  • Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth, avoiding abrasive products and contact with electrical parts.
  • Periodically check screws, brackets and shades; re-tighten or replace worn or damaged parts.
  • Check the condition of the cable, lampholder and diffusers; if they show damage, do not use them until they have been replaced.
  • Do not obstruct vents or openings in the design that help dissipate heat.
  • If it is not to be installed immediately, store the fitting in its packaging, in a dry place, protected from impacts and dust.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not use with bulbs that exceed the wattage recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not install in areas with high humidity or outdoors unless the model is rated for it.
  • Do not hang objects from the fitting or use it as a hook or support point.
  • Do not cover with fabrics, paper, insulating foam or other items that impede heat dissipation.
  • Do not modify the product (drilling, cutting cables, changing lampholders) or replace components with others not intended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use if the housing, shade or bracket are cracked, broken or deformed.
  • Keep out of reach of young children and prevent them from handling switches, bulbs or cables.
