Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Risk of electric shock when handling connections or cables while the equipment is connected to the mains.
  • Overheating and fire due to overloading, insufficient ventilation, or covering the transformer.
  • Damage to the connected equipment from using an incompatible voltage, current, or output type.
  • Burns from elevated case temperature after prolonged use.
  • Short circuits caused by damaged cables, loose terminals, or the presence of moisture.
  • Damage from drops or cable tugs, which may affect the plug or the mains socket.
  • Ingress of dust or liquids that may cause electrical failure or shock.

Safe use

  • Before connecting, verify input and output compatibility (voltage, current, and power as specified by the manufacturer) and that the load type is suitable.
  • Place the transformer on a stable, dry, non-flammable surface. Leave space around it to dissipate heat and do not cover it.
  • Connect and disconnect with dry hands. Unplug from the mains before handling terminals or wiring on the output side.
  • Use sockets in good condition and avoid overloading power strips or daisy-chained multi-plug adaptors.
  • Route cables without pinching or twisting and avoid running them through walkways or under doors. Use cable ties or grommets without compressing the insulation.
  • If the model has marked polarity or terminals, observe them and ensure firm connections without forcing.
  • If you notice a burning odour, crackling, or an unusual hum, disconnect immediately and do not use it until it has been checked or replaced.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store in a dry, clean, and ventilated place, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
  • Do not place objects on top or subject the cables to strain or crushing.
  • Wipe dust with a dry cloth. Do not use cleaning liquids or aerosols.
  • Periodically check the condition of the cable, plug, and casing; if you observe cracks, discolouration, a burning odour, or loose parts, stop using it.
  • After prolonged use, check that the temperature is reasonable to the touch; unusual heating may indicate overloading.
  • Do not open or modify the product. If damaged, replace it with one in good condition.
  • If it will not be used for long periods, unplug it from the mains.

Restrictions on use

  • Indoor use only, unless the product expressly states that it is suitable for outdoor use.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets. Not a toy.
  • Do not use with loads that exceed the rated power/VA, nor with equipment incompatible with its output type.
  • Do not cover with textiles or install in enclosed spaces without adequate ventilation.
  • Do not use near water or in areas with condensation, steam, or splashes.
  • Do not connect multiple transformers together or modify the connections unless expressly instructed by the manufacturer.
  • For fixed installations connected to the mains, it is recommended that the connection be carried out by qualified personnel.
