Safety warnings and precautions
Key risks
- Pricks or cuts when handling the stake’s tips and edges.
- Trips and falls caused by low-visibility or poorly positioned stakes, or by loose cables.
- Damage to underground services (irrigation, electricity, telecommunications) when driving into the ground.
- Electrical risk due to moisture or improper connections in cabled or mains-powered models.
- Instability and breakage due to soft or frozen ground, or impacts from garden machinery.
- Glare if the beam is mis-aimed towards the eyes of pedestrians or drivers.
- Heating of the luminaire in some models, with a risk of uncomfortable contact or drying nearby mulch.
- Deterioration from continuous exposure to the elements if the product is not intended for such conditions.
Safe use
- Wear gloves and closed-toe footwear; hold by the body of the stake, never by the diffuser or the cable.
- Pre-form a small hole with a spike or suitable tool and press in by hand; avoid striking the luminaire directly.
- Before driving in, check there are no buried cables or pipes in the area and avoid thick roots.
- Position stakes away from walkways and leave clearance from edges, ramps and steps to reduce trip hazards.
- If electric: isolate the power before installation, use watertight connectors suitable for outdoor use and keep cables tidy and protected.
- Keep a safe distance from easily flammable materials such as dry mulch or accumulated leaves.
- For solar models: face the panel towards the light, keep its surface clean and avoid covering the dusk sensor.
- Adjust the aim without looking directly at the light and check that it does not dazzle neighbours or traffic areas.
Storage and maintenance
- Periodically check the stability, alignment and condition of the tip, bracket and cabling; reposition or retighten if necessary.
- Clean with a soft cloth and soapy water; avoid abrasive products and high-pressure jets on joints or connectors.
- Remove soil, leaves and accumulated moisture around the base to prevent corrosion and mould.
- In case of frost, storms or long periods without use, remove and store in a dry place; for solar models, switch them off and, if they have removable batteries, take them out.
- Replace damaged or cracked parts and stop using the product if you notice exposed wires or severe rust.
- Keep cables away from lawnmowers and strimmers; use guides or guards when working in the garden.
Restrictions on use
- Installation and handling by adults only; keep small parts, batteries and cables out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not drive into concrete, stone or paving without specific accessories; do not force into very hard or frozen ground.
- Do not use as a support for ropes, awnings or tools, or as a play item.
- Do not cover the luminaire while it is on nor immerse it in water if the product is not rated for it.
- Do not modify, splice or repair cables or connectors using DIY methods; do not exceed the power rating specified by the manufacturer.
- Do not install in narrow walkways, garage ramps or manoeuvring areas where it may interfere with doors, vehicles or machinery.
- Do not carry or hang the stake by pulling on the cable; always unplug by gripping the plug.
