Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Luminaires or shades falling due to inadequate fixings or overloading of the suspension accessory.
- Electric shock or short circuits when handling connected accessories or those close to wiring with the power on; loose contacts that can cause overheating.
- Burns from hot surfaces and risk of fire if the accessory blocks ventilation or is installed next to combustible materials.
- Damage to cables due to pinching, abrasion against sharp edges, or strain during installation.
- Cuts or trapping from clips, springs or metal edges.
- Deformation, discolouration or detachment due to excessive heat or direct radiation from the luminaire.
- Corrosion or premature failure from use in humid environments when the accessory is not designed for it.
- Loss of adhesion of adhesives due to temperature or ageing, with the consequent risk of falling.
Safe use
- Check compatibility with the luminaire (fixing type, dimensions, rated weight and proximity to heat sources) before installing.
- Switch off the power and allow the luminaire to cool before fitting, adjusting or cleaning any accessory.
- Use screws, wall plugs and brackets suitable for the surface material; check the fixing and re-tighten after the first few hours of use.
- Observe the load limits of both the accessory and the luminaire; do not suspend more weight than recommended.
- Do not cover ventilation slots or heat sinks; keep clear of curtains, paper and other combustible materials.
- Route cables without tension or tight bends and avoid pinching them when closing covers or trims.
- Avoid forcing threads or mixing parts from different systems; do not drill or modify the accessory.
- If the accessory is close to heat sources, handle with gloves and avoid direct contact with the hot lamp.
Storage and maintenance
- Store in a dry, clean place away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
- Keep screws and small parts in labelled bags or boxes, out of reach of children and pets.
- Protect from impacts and dust; do not stack weight on fragile parts to avoid deformation.
- Periodically check fixings, chains, clips and cables; replace if you observe cracks, looseness, corrosion or discolouration due to heat.
- Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth; avoid abrasive products, solvents and immersion in water.
- Before any adjustment, cut the power and allow to cool; if you detect a burning smell or abnormal heating, remove the accessory and check the installation and compatibility.
- Do not repair with adhesive tape, glues or improvised solutions items that must bear weight or insulate electrical parts; replace with new parts.
Restrictions of use
- Not a toy: do not allow handling by children without supervision.
- Do not use outdoors, in bathrooms or other damp areas unless the product itself clearly states that it is suitable.
- Do not exceed the weight, cable tension or temperature that the luminaire or the accessory can withstand.
- Do not hang additional objects from it or use the accessory as a general anchoring point.
- Do not use common adhesives near heat sources nor as the sole fixing on ceilings or walls where there is a risk of falling.
- Do not install on hollow or damaged surfaces without the appropriate fixing for that material.
- Do not use the accessory if essential parts are missing, if it shows visible damage or if the fixing is not compatible with the luminaire.
- For work at height, use a stable ladder and, when possible, have assistance to support the luminaire while the accessory is being secured.
