Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Electric shock from live working or from inadequate insulation and exposed terminals.
  • Fire or overheating due to overloading, loose connections or insufficient ventilation.
  • Sparks or electric arcing when operating switches improperly or with deteriorated components.
  • Mechanical damage, moisture or corrosion compromising insulation and the integrity of the distribution board.
  • Unintended access by children or pets to internal parts if the door or covers are not properly closed.
  • Unexpected loss of supply if the distribution board is operated without correctly identifying the circuits.

Safe use

  • Installation, extensions and repairs must be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Always isolate the main supply before opening the distribution board or working inside it, and verify the absence of voltage with a suitable tester.
  • Work with dry hands and insulating footwear, and, where appropriate, use insulating gloves, safety goggles and insulated tools.
  • Mount the distribution board on a firm, dry and stable surface; keep ventilation clear and the unit away from heat sources.
  • Keep covers, terminal covers and busbar combs in place; do not leave conductors or live parts accessible.
  • Use only protective devices and accessories that are compatible and in accordance with the distribution board manufacturer's specifications; do not overload the circuits.
  • Ensure neat cabling: no pinched cables, gentle bend radii and no damaged insulation; tighten terminals in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Label circuits clearly to facilitate safe operation and prevent accidental disconnections.
  • If you notice a burning smell, sparks, repeated tripping or abnormal heating, isolate the supply and have it inspected by a qualified electrician.

Storage and maintenance

  • Before installation, store the distribution board in its packaging, in a dry, clean place protected from impacts, dust and moisture.
  • Avoid stacking heavy loads on top and transport the distribution board without subjecting it to impacts.
  • Carry out periodic visual inspections (e.g., every 6–12 months) with the distribution board de-energised: condition of the enclosure and locks, signs of moisture, corrosion, discolouration or loose screws.
  • Clean the exterior with a dry cloth; the interior only when de-energised and without using liquids or aerosols. Remove dust with a soft brush or a low-suction vacuum.
  • Keep access clear and well-lit to allow safe intervention if needed.
  • Replace damaged or aged components immediately with equivalent, compatible spares; do not attempt to repair protective devices.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not handle or open the distribution board while energised or with wet hands.
  • Do not install outdoors, in bathrooms or in areas with moisture, dust or corrosive agents without a degree of protection appropriate to the environment.
  • Do not drill, pierce or modify the enclosure; do not remove covers or barriers without installing equivalent protection.
  • Do not mix incompatible components or disable, bypass or block protective devices.
  • Do not exceed the capacity of the distribution board or the module or current rating specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use the distribution board in potentially explosive atmospheres unless it is specifically designed for that purpose.
  • Do not allow access to children; keep the door closed and, where applicable, locked.
  • Do not use the distribution board as a shelf nor subject it to impacts, continuous vibration or hanging loads.
