Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • High-velocity ejection of staples, nails or rivet mandrels, with a risk of puncture wounds, cuts and eye injuries.
  • Ricochets or blow-through of the material, especially on hard, thin or knotted surfaces.
  • Unintentional firing due to dropping, keeping a finger on the trigger, or resting the nosepiece without intending to fasten.
  • Entrapment at the nosepiece or in the riveting system during loading, adjustment or clearing jams.
  • High noise levels and vibration during prolonged use that may cause fatigue or hearing discomfort.
  • Leaks or hose disconnections on pneumatic tools, with a risk of hose whip or overpressure.
  • Electrical hazard on corded or battery-powered models and when fastening near concealed wiring.
  • Kickback or loss of control of the tool when firing in unstable positions.

Safe use

  • Always wear safety glasses with side shields; add hearing protection and gloves where appropriate.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until aligning the nosepiece with the fastening area; never point at people or animals.
  • Do not disable or block the contact safety devices; place the nosepiece firmly and at the correct angle before firing.
  • Use compatible staples, nails and rivets of the recommended size; perform a test on an offcut of the same material.
  • Secure the workpiece and avoid firing near edges to prevent splintering or blow-through.
  • Check that there are no cables, pipes or other concealed services in the fastening area.
  • Unplug from the mains, remove the battery, or shut off and vent the air before loading consumables, changing nozzles or clearing jams.
  • Adjust power or pressure cautiously according to the material; avoid excessive settings.
  • Hold the tool firmly and work on stable surfaces; keep bystanders at a safe distance.
  • On riveters, point the mandrel towards a safe area and use the mandrel collector if fitted.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the tool disconnected: with no mains lead plugged in, no battery and no air hose; vent any residual pressure.
  • Empty the staple/nail magazine and the mandrel container after use; engage the trigger lock if fitted.
  • Periodically check the nosepiece, trigger, fasteners, hoses and fittings; do not use the tool if you detect damage, play or leaks.
  • Clean the outlet area and the magazine to remove dust and debris; avoid harsh solvents.
  • Lubricate pneumatic tools with the appropriate oil only when specified by the manufacturer.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place, protected from impacts and moisture, and out of reach of children.
  • Keep staples, nails and rivets in sealed, dry containers; discard any that are rusty or deformed.
  • Replace wear parts with compatible spares and carry out any adjustments with the tool cool and de-energised.

Restrictions of use

  • Not suitable for minors; for use only by adults familiar with fastening tools.
  • Do not carry the tool with your finger on the trigger nor hang it by the cable or hose.
  • Do not use in very humid environments, in the rain, or in atmospheres with flammable dust or vapours.
  • Do not fire into extremely hard, brittle or very thin materials without a prior test.
  • Do not exceed work rates that cause overheating; take breaks to allow cooling.
  • Do not modify the tool or disable safety devices; do not use non-recommended consumables or accessories.
  • Do not work near edges without leaving a safety distance, nor in the presence of people without cordoning off the area.
