Wall Chasers
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts and entrapment from contact with rotating discs.
- Kickback if the discs bind or strike unexpected hard materials.
- Inhalation of mineral dust (silica) and particles impacting eyes and skin.
- High noise and vibration that can cause fatigue or discomfort after prolonged use.
- Electric shock risk from striking hidden cables or from faulty equipment and damaged leads.
- Sparks and fragments when striking steel reinforcement (rebar) or other embedded elements.
- Loss of control due to awkward postures, slippery surfaces or poor lighting.
Safe use
- Inspect the wall chaser before use: housings and guards intact, cable/plug undamaged and discs free from cracks or deformation.
- Wear appropriate PPE: safety goggles or face visor, respiratory protection for mineral dust, hearing protection, gloves and safety footwear.
- Connect a dust-extraction system and work in well-ventilated areas; avoid raising unnecessary dust clouds.
- Check for hidden services (cables, pipes) with a detector and reliable plans; de-energise nearby circuits where possible.
- Hold the tool with both hands, maintain a stable stance and guide the cut without forcing it; let the discs work at their own pace.
- Set the chase depth and width before starting and do not remove guards or extraction shrouds.
- Keep the cable and extraction hose away from the cutting path and walkways.
- Wait for the discs to come to a complete stop before setting the tool down, and unplug it before changing accessories or making adjustments.
- Avoid using it in damp or wet environments or in the rain unless expressly permitted by the product.
Storage and maintenance
- Disconnect from the mains and, where applicable, remove the battery before cleaning, changing discs or performing maintenance.
- Wipe dust from the housing and ventilation grilles with a dry cloth; prevent liquids from entering the motor.
- Frequently check the condition of the cable, plug, guards, extraction nozzles and fixings; do not use the equipment if you detect any damage.
- Check disc wear and condition and replace them if they are worn, cracked or not suitable for the material.
- Empty and dispose of dust from the container or vacuum safely, avoiding its dispersion.
- Store it in a clean, dry place, out of the reach of children, with the discs protected and without weight on the cable or hose.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use the wall chaser on wood, metal, plastics or other materials not specified by the manufacturer.
- Do not work on materials that may contain asbestos or other hazardous substances.
- Do not cut chases in structural elements (beams, columns, load-bearing walls) or in floors or ceilings without prior technical assessment.
- Do not operate in atmospheres with explosive dust or flammable vapours.
- Do not use damaged or incompatible discs, or discs not clearly intended for the work material.
- Do not work above shoulder height, on unstable ladders or with inadequate lighting.
- Do not allow use by minors or by persons without basic training and proper supervision; keep bystanders away from the work area.
