Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts from sharp edges and broken or chipped pieces.
- Strain and crush injuries when handling heavy boxes and panels.
- Slips and falls on wet surfaces or those covered with dust, adhesive or construction debris.
- Inhalation of dust and flying debris when cutting or drilling the pieces.
- Skin and eye irritation from contact with adhesives, mortars or cutting dust.
- Detachment if the substrate is unsuitable or the fixing fails.
- Breakage due to point impacts or from placing concentrated loads on edges.
- Stains or discolouration, especially on natural stone, from contact with aggressive chemicals.
Safe use
- Ensure the substrate is clean, sound, dry and level before installation.
- Plan the layout of the pieces and carry out dry runs to avoid unexpected cuts.
- Wear sturdy gloves and closed-toe footwear; when cutting or sanding, use safety glasses, a mask and hearing protection.
- Make cuts in well-ventilated areas and control dust with extraction or by wetting the cut line where appropriate.
- Keep the work area tidy and promptly remove dust, water and material residues to reduce the risk of slipping.
- Follow the instructions for use and timings of ancillary products; do not walk on or load until set.
- Protect edges and newly installed surfaces against impacts and scuffs during the works.
- Clean after installation, removing residues before they harden; use cleaners suitable for the material.
- In wet areas, seal joints and, where applicable, apply a specific sealer to the stone following the manufacturer's instructions.
Storage and maintenance
- Transport and move boxes with assistance when the weight requires it; avoid impacts and dropping the pieces.
- Store horizontally on a flat, stable surface, in a dry, ventilated place; avoid prolonged moisture and frost.
- Do not overstack or place point loads on the edges to prevent deformation or breakage.
- Keep the pieces in their packaging until use to protect edges and surfaces.
- Periodically inspect installed areas; repair loose, cracked or hollow-sounding pieces as soon as possible.
- Clean with cloths or mops and pH-neutral detergents; rinse and dry to reduce the risk of slipping.
- Avoid metal scouring pads, abrasive products, acids or bleaches, especially on natural stone and joints.
- Protect the finish with furniture pads and with temporary coverings during removals or other works.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use the finish as a structural element or as an improvised working platform.
- Do not hang heavy loads or install accessories without suitable fixing to the substrate.
- Do not drill without first checking for the possible presence of hidden cables or pipes.
- Do not expose the surface to extreme thermal shocks that may cause cracking.
- Do not use aggressive concentrated cleaners, strippers or acids, or mix chemicals.
- Do not allow children and pets access to the work area during installation, cutting or curing.
- Do not walk on or place loads on newly laid areas until they reach the strength indicated by the products used.
