Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Strong winds that can move, overturn or tear the structure and its covers.
  • Build-up of snow or water on the roof that can cause deformation or partial collapse.
  • Cuts from glass or panels and metal edges; pinch injuries during assembly or when handling doors and windows.
  • High temperatures and lack of ventilation that can cause heatstroke or dehydration.
  • Breakage of glass due to impacts, with possible flying shards.
  • Humidity and condensation that create slippery floors and a risk of mould.
  • Use of unsuitable heating with risk of burns, fire or hazardous gases.
  • Electrical risk from lighting, ventilation or irrigation in damp environments.
  • Falls and trips due to tensioners, tools, steps or unstable shelving.

Safe use

  • Assemble on a firm, level base; anchor the structure before use, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Avoid fitting or loosening covers on windy days; carry out assembly with two people, using protective gloves and safety goggles.
  • Position the greenhouse away from power lines, heat sources, unstable trees and high-traffic areas.
  • Check that doors and windows open and close without sticking; secure moving parts so they do not slam in the wind.
  • Ventilate regularly, especially on hot days; use shading if necessary and limit the time spent inside.
  • Carefully remove snow, leaves or standing water from the roof with soft tools, without putting weight on the structure.
  • Distribute weight on shelves and benches; do not hang pots or other loads from the roof unless the design allows for it.
  • If using heaters or generators, use equipment suitable for enclosed spaces, on a stable surface, away from combustible materials and with sufficient ventilation; avoid open flames.
  • Protect cables, plugs and connections from moisture and splashes; do not handle electrical equipment with wet hands.
  • Handle fertilisers, plant protection products and other chemicals with gloves, in their original packaging and with good ventilation; clean up any spill immediately.

Storage and maintenance

  • Periodically check screws, fixings, anchors and tensioners; replace parts that are loose, cracked, rusty or deformed.
  • Inspect panels and covers; replace any that show cracks, breakage or significant loss of transparency.
  • Clean panels and frame with water and mild soap; avoid solvents and abrasive scourers; do not climb onto the roof to clean.
  • Lightly lubricate hinges and latches when necessary to prevent jamming.
  • Before storms, secure doors, windows and loose items; remove nets or canopies that could act as a sail.
  • Keep gutters and drains clear to prevent water pooling; check the ground drainage.
  • For portable or seasonal models, dismantle and store the covers dry and clean, protected from direct sun; store parts and hardware together and labelled, out of reach of children.
  • Store tools and chemicals in closed, stable containers, out of reach of children and pets.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not use as a dwelling, play area, bedroom, garage or shelter during storms.
  • Do not climb, sit or walk on the structure or the roof.
  • Do not block exits with pots, shelves or tools; do not lock with padlocks from the outside when people are inside.
  • Do not use candles, barbecues, camping stoves or open-flame heaters inside.
  • Do not install on balconies, rooftops or highly exposed areas without adequate anchoring, or attach it to lightweight railings.
  • Do not exceed the load capacities of shelves, crossbars or roofs; do not hang loads from the frame if it is not designed for it.
  • Do not operate electrical equipment without protection against moisture or with damaged cables.
  • Keep children and pets supervised and away from assembly areas, heaters, tools and chemicals.
  • During periods of extreme wind, heavy hail or heavy snowfall, avoid using it and, if possible, secure or remove lightweight covers.
