Safety warnings and precautions

Key risks

  • Door falling or tipping during installation, with risk of impact or entrapment injuries.
  • Cuts and pinching injuries from edges, hinges and tools.
  • Flying splinters and dust when drilling or routing.
  • Accidental perforation of concealed electrical cables or pipes in the wall or frame.
  • Fixing failure due to using unsuitable screws/wall plugs or weakened substrates.
  • Misalignment causing sudden closure, rubbing or door jamming.
  • Falls from ladders and overexertion when handling heavy doors.
  • Ingestion or inhalation of small parts by children or pets.

Safe use

  • Review the kit instructions and check compatibility with the type, material, thickness and weight of the door and frame.
  • Before drilling, locate any hidden services and avoid areas with cables or pipes.
  • Wear gloves, safety goggles and, if you generate dust or noise, appropriate respiratory and hearing protection.
  • Clear the work area and secure the door with wedges or with the help of another person; do not work on an unsecured door leaf.
  • Use tools in good condition and of the correct size; tighten screws without forcing to avoid stripping threads.
  • Follow the recommended templates or marks and check level and square at each step.
  • Use screws and wall plugs suited to the material (timber, hollow wall, concrete, metal) as indicated by the kit manufacturer.
  • Test opening and closing several times before finishing the installation; adjust if there is rubbing or misalignment.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the kit in a dry, clean place protected from moisture to prevent corrosion of screws and hardware.
  • Keep small parts in their bags or organiser boxes and out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Do not mix components from different kits; keep labels, templates and instructions for future reference.
  • Inspect components before installation: discard deformed, cracked or rusted parts.
  • After installation, check the tightness of the screws and the alignment after a few days and periodically, especially on doors with heavy use.
  • Clean hardware with a soft cloth; avoid abrasive products. Lubricate hinges or guides only if specified by the manufacturer.

Usage restrictions

  • Do not use the kit on emergency exit, fire or high-security doors unless it is specifically intended for that use and compatible with the door.
  • Do not exceed the weight, dimensions or frequency of use recommended for the kit.
  • Do not install on damaged, unstable or incompatible surfaces without the appropriate fixings.
  • Do not combine the kit with automation, door closers or electronic access systems unless compatibility is specified.
  • Do not use outdoors or in damp/corrosive environments unless the kit is intended for it.
  • Do not drill or modify areas not intended on the leaf or frame, especially structural elements or sensitive metal components.
  • Keep children and pets away during installation and initial testing.
