Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts or entrapment from internal moving parts if opened or improperly handled.
  • Electrical hazard due to moisture, splashes or damaged cables.
  • Leaks, bad odours or backflow due to blockages or faulty connections.
  • Overheating and motor damage from running dry or continuous use without pauses.
  • Exposure to contaminated splashes during cleaning or unblocking.
  • Noise and vibration that may affect comfort and nearby components if the unit is not properly secured.

Safe use

  • Before installing or using, read the manufacturer’s instructions and follow the model-specific guidance.
  • Always disconnect from the mains before opening, cleaning or inspecting the unit. Do not place your hands inside.
  • Use the toilet with toilet paper only. Do not flush wipes (even if labelled 'flushable'), sanitary towels, tampons, nappies, condoms, cotton buds, dental floss, cotton wool, cigarette ends, fibres or threads, plastics or other solids.
  • Do not pour fats, oils, paints, solvents, caustic or abrasive products, sand or building debris: these can cause damage and blockages.
  • Ensure the macerator is stable and securely fixed; avoid kinking or compressing the inlet and outlet hoses.
  • Keep the casing closed and do not remove guards or covers while in operation.
  • Wear gloves and eye protection when handling the unit or dealing with a blockage.
  • Provide an accessible electrical isolation point to cut power quickly if required.

Storage and maintenance

  • Position the unit in a dry, ventilated and accessible location for inspection, protected from impacts and frost.
  • Periodically check seals, clamps and connections; look for signs of moisture, looseness or cracks and rectify any issues before use.
  • Clean and descale with compatible products specified by the manufacturer; avoid strong acids, concentrated chlorine or expanding foams.
  • After any intervention, run a test with clean water to confirm there are no leaks or abnormal noises.
  • If it will not be used for an extended period, flush with clean water and disconnect the power; in cold areas, protect against freezing.

Restrictions of use

  • Do not use the macerator with flammable or corrosive liquids, or at temperatures not permitted for the model.
  • Do not exceed the unit’s capacity (inlets, flow rate or discharge distance) as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not install outdoors or in environments with excessive condensation without appropriate protection for the model.
  • Do not use the appliance if it shows visible damage, burning smells, unusual noises or excessive vibration; isolate the power and check before proceeding.
  • Do not allow children to handle the unit or its controls.
  • Do not modify the product or make makeshift electrical splices; installation and repairs must be carried out by qualified personnel.
