Usage Warnings
Cooker Hood Filters
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts from the edges of metal filters when removing or installing them.
- Filter falling if not properly secured, with a risk of striking the worktop or hot cookware.
- Grease build-up that can promote ignition and unpleasant odours.
- Mild irritation from activated carbon dust or grease residues when handling used filters.
- Accidental contact with hot surfaces of the hood or the hob.
- Damage to the hood from using incompatible or deformed filters, causing vibrations or noise.
Safe use
- Switch off the hood and wait for the hob to cool down completely; if possible, disconnect the power supply before accessing the filter.
- Wear gloves; if the filter is very dirty or dusty, consider a lightweight face mask and eye protection.
- Install and remove the filter following the hood manufacturer's instructions; check it seats correctly and is firmly secured, with no play.
- Do not use the hood without filters or with damaged, deformed or saturated filters.
- Keep flames controlled so they do not reach the filter, and minimise grease splashes.
- If the filter is disposable (e.g., activated carbon), do not wash it; replace it when it loses effectiveness or persistent odours appear.
- If the filter is washable (e.g., metal mesh), clean it with lukewarm water and mild detergent; avoid scouring pads or harsh chemicals and dry it completely before reinstalling.
- After installation, perform a brief functional test to detect abnormal vibrations or rubbing.
Storage and maintenance
- Store spare filters in their original packaging, in a dry, clean place away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
- Avoid compressing or deforming the filters, especially activated-carbon filters.
- Keep the filters away from strong odours before installation to avoid saturating them.
- Periodically check the mesh, frames, tabs/clips and seals; replace if you notice breakage, deformation or persistent odours.
- Adjust the cleaning or replacement frequency to your kitchen use; it may need to be shortened for grease-heavy cooking.
- When disposing of used filters, place them in a sealed bag to prevent drips and the spread of dust or grease.
Restrictions of use
- For use only in domestic cooker hoods compatible with the model and size specified by the manufacturer.
- Do not modify, trim or perforate the filter.
- Do not expose the filter to direct flame or use it if it shows signs of burning, breakage or deformation.
- Do not apply oven cleaners, solvents or caustic degreasers to washable filters.
- Do not operate the hood if the filter is not correctly secured.
- Keep these products out of the reach of children and pets; their installation and maintenance require adult supervision.
- Do not use these filters in industrial environments or with non-food vapours unless expressly indicated by the manufacturer.
