Usage Warnings

Kitchen Sink Valves

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts or pinches when handling metal parts with sharp edges or threads.
  • Leaks due to misfitted gaskets, damaged parts or improper tightening, with a risk of water damage and mould.
  • Overflows if the drain becomes blocked or if the plug is left in unattended.
  • Burns from very hot water or from a dishwasher discharge connected to the drain.
  • Sink or pipe breakage due to over-tightening or impacts from tools.
  • Bad odours due to dirt build-up or poor sealing.
  • Skin irritation or deterioration of gaskets from aggressive chemical cleaners or incompatible mixtures.
  • Risk of ingestion or choking on small parts during installation if children are nearby.

Safe use

  • Check the compatibility of the diameter and connection type with your sink and trap before installing.
  • Work in a dry area and do not use the tap during installation to prevent spills.
  • Handle parts with gloves and hold them firmly to prevent cuts or tool slippage.
  • Fit the gaskets clean and untwisted; tighten by hand first and then lightly with a tool, without forcing.
  • After assembly, run water and visually check all joints for any drips.
  • Clean the basket or strainer frequently and remove food residues; avoid pouring oils and fats down the drain.
  • If the assembly has recently been in contact with very hot water or with the dishwasher, allow it to cool before handling.
  • Avoid drain unblockers or very aggressive cleaners; do not mix chemicals (e.g., bleach with acids) and ensure adequate ventilation.
  • Use only sealants or lubricants compatible with rubber gaskets if required, following the product instructions.
  • In installations with a food waste disposer or dishwasher connections, check the compatibility of the valve and its adaptors.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store spares and gaskets in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Keep gaskets in sealed bags, away from oils, solvents or products that can degrade rubber.
  • Clean periodically with water and neutral soap; avoid very abrasive scouring pads and concentrated chlorinated products.
  • Regularly check the condition of the joints and the tightness; if you notice cracks, hardening or deformation in the gaskets, replace them.
  • If there are visible signs of limescale or dirt, disassemble and clean only if the design allows, then reassemble and check for leaks.
  • If after a long period without use you notice an odour, run water to restore the drain’s water seal.
  • Keep small parts and tools organised and out of reach of children.

Restrictions of use

  • Do not modify, drill or sand the valve or its components.
  • Do not use the valve with corrosive substances, solvents, very hot oils or residues that may damage gaskets and finishes.
  • Do not use the valve as a support point or hang heavy objects from the drain assembly.
  • Do not block the drain for prolonged periods or leave the plug in unattended.
  • Do not use unsuitable or incorrectly sized tools that could damage the sink or threads.
  • Do not install on cracked sinks or on irregular surfaces that prevent a proper seal.
  • Intended for domestic sinks; for other applications, check the product specifications.
