Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts to hands from sharp edges, metal parts, broken crockery or sharp utensils inside the sink.
- Burns from hot water or steam from the tap, or when pouring from hot containers.
- Slips and falls due to water spilt on the worktop or the floor.
- Leaks at the drain, trap or joints that may cause moisture damage and mould in the cabinet.
- Impacts or pinch/crush injuries when handling the sink and heavy accessories during unpacking or installation.
- Skin or respiratory irritation due to improper use of concentrated cleaners or mixing products.
- Electrical hazard if splashes reach sockets, extension leads or nearby small appliances.
Safe use
- Check that the sink, tap and drain are secure and not loose before use.
- Handle crockery and knives in the sink with care; remove broken pieces immediately to avoid cuts.
- Turn on the hot water gradually and test the temperature carefully to avoid scalds.
- Wipe the worktop and floor immediately if water is spilt to reduce the risk of slipping.
- Do not place excessive weight on the drainer or the edges, and do not lean inside the sink.
- Avoid sudden thermal shock (for example, pouring very hot water onto a very cold surface); use trivets if placing hot pots.
- Use cleaning products compatible with the sink surface and follow the instructions on the label; do not mix bleach with acids or ammonia.
- Keep sockets and electrical appliances away from splashes; if they get wet, disconnect them from the mains before handling them.
Storage and maintenance
- Before installation, store the sink on a flat, stable surface, protected from impacts and without placing weight on the edges.
- Clean regularly with a soft cloth and neutral detergent; rinse and dry to minimise staining and limescale.
- Avoid very abrasive scouring pads and sharp tools that could scratch or damage the drain and seals.
- Rinse after using acidic products, salt or foods that may cause persistent staining.
- Periodically check the drain, trap, overflow and seals; tighten or replace components if you detect leaks.
- Clean the basket strainer to prevent blockages and bad odours.
- Ventilate the base cabinet to reduce humidity and prevent mould; wipe away any visible condensation.
- If you notice cracks, warping or instability, stop using it and arrange a repair before continuing.
Restrictions on use
- Installation and connection to the water supply must strictly follow the manufacturer’s instructions; if in doubt, consult qualified personnel.
- Do not use the sink as a step, seat or support to stand on.
- Do not use the sink as a direct chopping board if the model is not designed for it.
- Do not pour solvents, paints, oils or large amounts of fat; they can damage pipework and cause blockages.
- Do not put your hands into the drain if mechanical accessories are connected; ensure they are switched off and disconnected from the power supply before any intervention.
- Keep children away from hot water and cleaning products; store these products sealed and out of their reach.
- Do not block the overflow or completely cover the drain when filling the sink; always supervise filling to prevent overflows.
