Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts or entrapment when attempting to remove debris with the unit connected to the power supply or running.
- Risk of electric shock due to moisture, splashes or damaged cables/connections.
- Water leaks that can damage furniture and increase the risk of electric shock.
- Blockages and water backing up from feeding inappropriate or excessive waste.
- Water and debris being projected if the splash guard is missing or incorrectly fitted.
- Excessive noise and vibration that may loosen plumbing connections.
- Persistent odours caused by a build-up of waste in the chamber or the trap.
- Irritation or chemical burns from using caustic drain unblockers.
Safe use
- Do not put your hands in; use tongs or the specified tool, and only with the appliance switched off and disconnected from the mains.
- Check that the disposal unit is firmly secured to the sink with no looseness before use.
- Turn on the tap and run cold water before, during and after grinding to flush away debris.
- Feed waste in small amounts; do not pack it down or force it into the opening.
- Avoid fats and oils, hard and large bones, very hard shells, non-food materials (plastic, metal, glass) and utensils.
- Avoid fibrous waste (celery, corn husks, long peelings) and foods that swell (rice, pasta, bread) to prevent blockages.
- If you notice strange noises, unusual vibrations or a burning smell, stop the unit and check for foreign objects with the appliance disconnected.
- Do not use caustic drain cleaners or pour concentrated bleach into the disposal unit; they can damage seals and cause dangerous splashes.
Storage and maintenance
- Keep the inside of the cabinet dry and periodically check for drips at seals, hoses and connections.
- Clean the chamber from time to time by running water with a little mild detergent; avoid abrasive or highly concentrated products.
- To remove stuck residues, disconnect the unit and use tongs; do not put your hand or scouring pads inside.
- If it jams, cut off the power and follow the manufacturer's instructions for manual release; do not force the motor.
- Inspect and replace the splash guard and seals if they are deteriorated.
- Ensure the switch or push-button is dry and in good condition; avoid operating it with wet hands if there is a risk of electrical contact.
- When you notice persistent bad odours or slow drainage, clean the trap carefully to avoid spills.
Restrictions of use
- For indoor domestic use and only for suitable food waste; do not use it as a general waste bin.
- Keep children and pets away from the sink; maintain close supervision while the appliance is in use.
- Do not use the disposal unit if it is loose, damaged, has damaged cables/plugs, or if there are leaks.
- Do not modify the appliance or wiring, nor remove guards or covers.
- Do not operate it without running water or with the sink filled up to the level of the splash guard.
- If you do not have plumbing or electrical experience, have installation or inspection carried out by qualified personnel.
- Do not connect accessories or hoses not intended by the manufacturer.
- Avoid prolonged continuous use; allow the motor to rest between batches.
