Inflatable Boats
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Capsizing, falling into the water, and risk of drowning, especially with waves, currents, or abrupt manoeuvres.
- Sudden deflation due to punctures, abrasion, or improperly closed valves.
- Drifting due to offshore wind, currents, or tidal changes that make returning difficult.
- Collisions with rocks, shallow areas, buoys, or other vessels.
- Exposure to sun, heat, or cold: sunburn, dehydration, or hypothermia.
- Entanglement with lines, nets, or fishing gear.
- Injuries when loading, transporting, or handling oars and pumps.
Safe use
- Before each outing, check the condition of the hull, seams, chambers, and valves; ensure there are no cuts, wear, or air leaks.
- Inflate following the manufacturer's instructions; do not overinflate or use high-pressure compressors. Check that the valves are properly closed.
- Do not exceed the person and load capacity; distribute the weight evenly and sit in the designated positions to maintain stability.
- Always wear a suitable lifejacket for each occupant. Avoid alcohol and drugs before and during the activity.
- Choose sheltered areas close to the shore; avoid offshore wind, swell, and strong currents. Check the sea state before setting out.
- Keep a safe distance from swimmers, rocks, and motorboats; respect buoyed areas and enter and exit via the designated channels where available.
- Carry a means of signalling or communication (e.g., a whistle and a phone in a waterproof case) and water to keep hydrated.
- Avoid sharp objects on board and on the shore; do not drag the boat along the ground and wear footwear that will not damage the material.
- If water gets in or you notice a loss of pressure, return to shore calmly and check ashore.
Storage and maintenance
- Rinse with fresh water after each use and dry completely before folding to prevent mould and bad odours.
- Do not leave the boat inflated in the sun or inside a hot car: heat increases pressure and can damage the material.
- Store in a cool, dry, shaded place, without weight on top and without forced folds. Avoid prolonged exposure to UV rays and heat sources.
- Periodically check seams, handles, oars, lines, and the condition of the valves. Gently check for possible leaks with soapy water.
- Carry out repairs only with compatible kits and following the manufacturer's instructions; do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- During transport, protect the boat from scuffs and punctures; keep sand and salt out of the valves and fit the caps.
Usage restrictions
- It is not a life-saving device and is not intended for open water away from the coast.
- Do not use in rough seas, strong winds, fast-flowing rivers, or in areas with heavy marine traffic.
- Do not navigate at night or in reduced visibility.
- Minors only with constant supervision by an adult within arm's reach; all occupants wearing a lifejacket.
- Do not overload, stand up, or jump from the boat; avoid abrupt manoeuvres.
- Do not tow the boat with jet skis or motorboats, nor install motors or other accessories not intended for the model.
- Avoid transporting animals with sharp claws or sharp objects that could puncture the hull.
- Do not go beyond buoyed areas or beyond a distance from which you can easily paddle back.
- In cold water, do not use it without adequate thermal protection and without assessing exposure time.
