Usage Warnings
Pool Ladders and Steps
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Slips on wet steps, with algae or sun cream residues.
- Tipping or instability due to poor installation, uneven ground or loose fixings.
- Finger entrapment or pinching between steps and handrails, or against the pool wall.
- Cuts or grazes from edges, loose parts or breakages.
- Corrosion or material fatigue from chlorine or saltwater that may compromise strength.
- Unsupervised access by children, especially in above-ground pools.
- Impacts or falls from jumping or diving off the ladder.
- Metal surfaces very hot from the sun that can cause minor burns on contact.
Safe use
- Before each use, check that the ladder is secure, with no play, and that the anti-slip steps are clean.
- Install and secure the ladder on a level, stable surface; ensure it rests correctly on the pool edge or wall.
- Climb up and down facing the ladder, holding the handrails, one step at a time and only one person at a time.
- Do not jump, swing or use the ladder as a diving platform.
- Keep the access area clear: no toys, ropes, floats or obstacles.
- Observe the maximum load specified by the manufacturer and avoid sudden movements.
- For above-ground pools, secure the ladder on both sides and lock or remove the outer section when the pool is not in use.
- Ensure the sole of the foot has good grip; clean off creams or oils that may reduce traction.
- Before gripping metal parts exposed to the sun, check their temperature to avoid burns.
Storage and maintenance
- Rinse with fresh water after use, especially in saltwater pools or after intensive treatments, and dry fittings and joints.
- Periodically inspect fixings, steps, rubber feet, caps and handrails; tighten or replace damaged or loose parts.
- Remove algae and biofilm with a soft brush and neutral detergent; avoid abrasive products that could smooth anti-slip surfaces.
- Immediately replace cracked steps, worn anti-slip strips and hardened or worn rubber feet.
- If there are signs of rust, severe discolouration or cracks, stop using the ladder until it is repaired or replaced.
- During periods of frost or out of season, remove the ladder, rinse it and store it under cover, in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct sunlight.
- Keep screws and small parts in a labelled bag to prevent losses when reinstalling.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use if any step is missing, or if there are cracks, deep corrosion or abnormal movement.
- Do not modify the structure or make makeshift fixes with ropes, cable ties or tape; use only compatible accessories.
- Do not use the ladder for other purposes (for example, as a household ladder outside the pool).
- Do not allow play, pushing or more than one person on the ladder at the same time.
- Children and people with reduced mobility must always use it under close supervision.
- Do not place the ladder on soft, slippery or unstable surfaces on the outside of the pool.
- Avoid using it if the water level is too low and the last step is too high relative to the water surface.
