Usage Warnings

Pool Cover Rollers

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Entrapment of fingers or hands in crank handles, shafts, straps, and pinch or shear points between tubes and supports.
  • Tipping over or movement of the roller if not locked or secured, especially in windy conditions.
  • Tripping over straps, webbing or the bar; slipping on wet surfaces around the pool.
  • Overexertion when moving the equipment or a heavy cover.
  • Becoming trapped under the cover or difficulty exiting the water if deployed uncontrollably or without supervision.
  • Cuts or pinches from damaged parts, sharp edges, or protruding screws.
  • Electrical hazard if the model incorporates a motor or wiring and comes into contact with water or splashes.

Safe use

  • Before use, check that the ground is firm and level; lock the roller's wheels or anchors.
  • Keep hands, hair and clothing away from gears, straps and telescopic joints during operation.
  • For large or heavy covers, carry out the manoeuvre with two people and guide the winding so it remains aligned and under even tension to avoid jams.
  • Do not operate in strong winds; wait for them to subside to prevent sudden movements of the assembly or the cover.
  • Remove leaves or objects from the cover before winding to prevent tears and jams.
  • Do not walk or allow anyone to walk on the cover; keep the pool perimeter clear during the manoeuvre.
  • If motorised, keep controls and cables dry and away from the edge; disconnect the power after use where possible.
  • When finished, secure the cover or the bar with the designated straps and remove the crank handle or key to prevent unauthorised use.

Storage and maintenance

  • Rinse the roller and straps periodically with fresh water to remove salt and pool chemical residues; allow to dry before covering.
  • Protect the assembly with a suitable cover if supplied or when not in use for prolonged periods, avoiding continuous exposure to sun and extreme weather.
  • Frequently check screws, anchors, stops, wheels, brakes, straps and seams; tighten fasteners and replace worn or cracked parts.
  • Check that the bar or tube shows no deformations or cracks; stop using it if you detect abnormal play.
  • Lubricate moving points only if specified by the manufacturer and with products compatible with the materials.
  • In winter or during storms, secure the roller to prevent it from moving, or store it under cover.
  • Keep the surrounding area clean and non-slip to reduce slips.

Restrictions on use

  • For exclusive use in rolling and deploying pool covers compatible with the roller's size and system.
  • Not a toy: not to be used by children. Operation only by adults and with no bathers in the pool.
  • Do not climb on, sit on or use the roller as a support, handrail or platform.
  • Do not modify the product or improvise straps, anchors or extensions.
  • Avoid use if you are tired or under the influence of alcohol or medicines that reduce alertness.
  • Do not use if there is visible damage, jams or loose parts until it has been inspected and components replaced.
  • People with reduced mobility or back pain should avoid handling heavy loads and ask for help when moving the cover.
