Safety warnings and precautions
Key risks
- Dizziness, nausea, eye strain and headaches from prolonged exposure or intense movement.
- Temporary loss of balance and awareness of your surroundings, with a risk of falls, collisions with furniture, or striking other people and pets.
- Strain on the neck, back, shoulders and wrists; potential accidental throwing of the controllers.
- Skin irritation from prolonged contact with foams/fabrics and hygiene risks when sharing the headset.
- Sensitivity to flashing lights and visual patterns that may trigger seizures in photosensitive individuals.
- Heating of the device or battery during use or charging.
- Tripping or entanglement with cables on wired models.
- Possible interference with medical implants due to magnets or wireless emissions in some models.
- Exposure to high volume levels that can affect hearing and isolate you from your surroundings.
Safe use
- Fit the straps and padding correctly; if the model allows, adjust the lens distance until you see clearly without straining your eyes.
- Clear the play area of obstacles, stairs, fragile furniture and pets; use virtual boundaries if the device provides them.
- Fasten the controller wrist straps to prevent them from being flung and keep your distance from others.
- If the model uses a cable, route it behind you or overhead to avoid stepping on it or becoming entangled.
- Take frequent breaks; stop immediately if you feel dizzy, have blurred vision, tingling, disorientation, headache or nausea.
- For stationary experiences, or if you feel unsteady, use the headset while seated.
- Set the volume to a moderate level that still lets you hear what is happening around you.
- Do not use the headset if you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, or taking medicines that cause drowsiness.
- Do not cover vents or ventilation areas, and do not use the equipment if it is excessively hot to the touch.
- Use only compatible chargers and cables, and avoid using the headset while charging if the manufacturer does not recommend it.
- If you wear prescription glasses, put the headset on carefully to prevent them from rubbing against the headset lenses; use spacers or pads if the product includes them.
- Maintain good hygiene: clean or cover the facial padding when sharing, and wipe away sweat during use.
Storage and maintenance
- Store the headset and accessories in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from moisture and dust.
- Avoid direct sunlight; do not allow light to shine through the lenses, as this can damage internal components and cause excessive heating.
- Clean the lenses with a dry microfibre cloth; avoid abrasive products or harsh chemicals.
- Disinfect contact surfaces with appropriate wipes, or use washable covers, and allow them to dry completely before use.
- Regularly check the condition of straps, padding, cables and connectors; replace any worn or damaged parts.
- Charge on hard, non-flammable surfaces; do not cover the device while charging, and stop the process if you notice odour, swelling or abnormal temperature.
- Keep the equipment out of reach of small children and pets when not in use.
Usage restrictions
- Do not use the headset while driving, cycling, cooking, or near stairs, balconies, edges, water or heat sources.
- Do not use it outdoors in direct sunlight, rain, or in environments with traffic or other real-world hazards.
- Not recommended for young children; follow the recommended age indicated by the manufacturer. For minors, limit usage and always ensure adult supervision.
- Avoid use if you have a history of photosensitive epilepsy or other conditions that may be triggered by intense visual stimuli; discontinue use at any sign of symptoms.
- If you have a pacemaker or other medical implants, avoid bringing the headset and controllers directly close to the implant area, and follow the implant manufacturer's recommendations.
- Do not use the equipment if it shows visible damage (cracked lenses, broken straps, deteriorated padding, frayed cables), and do not attempt to modify or repair it internally.
