Safety warnings and precautions
Key risks
- Falls when cleaning high windows or when using ladders and telescopic poles.
- Slips due to wet floors, drips or product residue.
- Cuts from scrapers, blades and glass edges, or glass breakage caused by pressure or impacts.
- Irritation to eyes, skin or airways from splashes or vapours from cleaners.
- Electrical risk with electric window cleaners/window vacs if they come into contact with water or show damage.
- Minor pinching from pole clamps or head joints.
- Scratching or discolouration of delicate surfaces (mirrors, film/tinted glass, frames) due to unsuitable tools or products.
Safe use
- Read the specific instructions for each tool or product before you start.
- Check that squeegee rubbers, cloths and fittings are in good condition; replace dull or damaged scraper blades.
- Work from top to bottom and wipe up drips immediately to prevent puddles.
- Use the ladder on a level surface; do not stand on furniture; maintain three points of contact and avoid overreaching.
- Keep scraper blades protected until use; slide with light strokes at a low angle, without forcing.
- Avoid excessive pressure on the glass and do not strike the frames.
- Ventilate the area when spraying; do not mix products; apply away from your face and avoid contact with eyes and skin.
- With electrical equipment: keep hands dry, do not immerse, use only the specified charger, disconnect before emptying/cleaning tanks, and do not use if there are leaks or visible damage.
- If the glass has a film or coating, test first in an inconspicuous area and use soft, non-abrasive cloths.
- Keep children and pets away from the work area to prevent trips and splashes.
Storage and maintenance
- Wash and dry rubbers, cloths and heads after each use; remove grit to prevent scratching.
- Store squeegees without weight on the rubber lip (hung or laid flat); replace deformed or worn rubber blades.
- Protect scrapers with their cover and replace rusty or nicked blades.
- Close cleaners tightly; store upright, in a cool, ventilated place, away from heat sources and out of reach of children and pets.
- For electrical devices, empty and dry the tanks after use; charge as directed by the manufacturer and avoid exposing the battery to heat or moisture.
- Retract telescopic poles and check their locks regularly.
Restrictions of use
- Not a toy: do not allow use by children and keep sharp components out of their reach.
- Do not use on cracked, loose or chipped glass.
- Avoid metal scrapers and abrasives on mirrors, toughened glass or film/tinted surfaces unless compatibility is confirmed.
- Do not use on electronic screens or on hot surfaces or in strong direct sunlight.
- Do not spray near flames or sources of ignition; do not smoke while applying aerosols.
- Do not use conductive poles or tools near power lines.
- Do not use or charge electric window cleaners outdoors in the rain or in wet areas (showers, bath edges).
- People with reduced mobility or balance should avoid working at height, or do so with assistance and under controlled conditions.
