Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Choking or suffocation from treats or kibble pieces of inappropriate size, or from very hard chews that may splinter.
- Digestive upset (vomiting, diarrhoea, gas) due to sudden food changes, intolerances, or overfeeding and excessive treats.
- Allergic reactions or intolerances to certain ingredients present in some foods and treats.
- Overweight and nutritional imbalances if treats are overused or complete food is replaced with snacks.
- Product spoilage due to heat, humidity or poor storage (rancidity, mould, presence of insects).
- Accidental ingestion of packaging, wrappers or possible absorbent sachets if left within reach of the pet or children.
- Cuts when handling tins or lids with sharp edges.
Safe use
- Check the label for the recommended species, life stage and size; adjust the daily portion and limit treats to a small part of the total intake.
- Introduce any change of food gradually to reduce digestive discomfort.
- Ensure fresh, clean water is available at all times, especially with dry food.
- Choose treats appropriate for your pet's size and chewing style; supervise while they eat and remove small fragments or loose pieces.
- Do not offer products with abnormal odour, colour or texture, visible mould, or swollen or damaged packaging.
- Wash your hands after handling the food and regularly clean bowls, surfaces and utensils; keep them dry to prevent contamination.
- Avoid leaving hard chews unattended for prolonged periods.
Storage and maintenance
- Keep the product in its original, well-sealed packaging, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- If decanting into a container, ensure it is clean, dry and with a lid; retain the batch and date information. Avoid mixing old leftovers with new product.
- Reduce exposure to air and moisture by closing properly after each use and keeping the packaging off the floor and away from heat sources.
- Refrigerate wet food after opening when indicated on the packaging and consume it within the time recommended by the manufacturer.
- Discard any product showing signs of mould, bad odour, rancid fat or the presence of insects.
- Keep products out of reach of children and unsupervised pets to prevent accidental opening and excessive ingestion.
Restrictions on use
- Not suitable for human consumption.
- Do not offer to species other than those indicated on the packaging nor to animals with known allergies to the ingredients.
- Do not use treats as a substitute for complete food unless expressly indicated by the manufacturer.
- Avoid very hard treats or those that splinter in animals with sensitive teeth, puppies/kittens, or pets prone to swallowing without chewing.
- Do not administer without supervision to animals with swallowing, dental or jaw problems.
- Do not use products that are expired or with packaging that is damaged or has been tampered with.
- Keep wrappers, closure clips and any absorbent sachets out of reach of children and pets.
- If your pet is on a specific diet for health reasons, consult your vet before making significant changes.
