Safety Warnings and Precautions
Key Risks
- Overheating of the device or battery during charging, prolonged use, or exposure to direct sunlight.
- Battery leakage, swelling, or fire if damaged, improperly inserted, short-circuited, or exposed to heat.
- Hearing damage from high monitoring levels on headphones.
- Mild electric shock or malfunction if handled with wet hands or exposed to liquids.
- Trips or falls caused by power leads, microphones, or headphones in walkways.
- Damage from drops, impacts, or vibrations that may render the equipment inoperable and cause loss of recordings.
Safe Use
- Use compatible, undamaged chargers and cables. Charge the device on a stable, non-flammable, well-ventilated surface; do not cover it or leave it charging unattended for extended periods.
- Do not use or charge the recorder if the battery is swollen, damaged, or hot to the touch. If you notice an unusual odour, noise, or smoke, disconnect and stop using it.
- Keep the equipment dry. Avoid rain, splashes, and condensation; use appropriate cases or protection where appropriate.
- Insert and remove batteries and memory cards with the device switched off. Observe polarity, and do not mix new and used batteries or different types.
- Set the volume to minimum before putting on headphones and increase it gradually. Take breaks to protect your hearing.
- Manage cables so they are not taut and do not cross walkways. Disconnect by pulling the plug, never the cable.
- When connecting microphones or other accessories, do not force the connectors and use only the ports specified by the manufacturer.
Storage and Maintenance
- Store the recorder in a dry, cool, and clean place, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and fine dust. Avoid extreme temperatures and do not leave it in a car in the sun.
- For long periods without use, remove the batteries, or leave the battery partially charged and recharge it periodically.
- Protect microphones and ports with covers or a case to prevent dirt ingress. Keep the equipment free from knocks and crushing.
- Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid liquids, aerosols, and solvents. If liquid enters, switch off and allow it to dry completely before using it again.
- Regularly check the condition of cables, connectors, batteries, and memory cards. Replace any component that is damaged or has corroded contacts.
- Make frequent backups of recordings to reduce the risk of content loss in case of damage or theft.
Restrictions on Use
- Not a toy. Keep the product and its accessories (batteries, adaptors, microSD cards) out of reach of young children due to choking or ingestion risk.
- Do not open, puncture, or modify the recorder or the battery. Do not attempt internal repairs.
- Do not use or charge the equipment in very humid environments, in the rain, or near water sources. Avoid areas with flammable vapours or combustible dust.
- Avoid using the recorder while driving or during activities that require full attention. Using headphones reduces awareness of your surroundings.
- Do not place the device on unstable surfaces or near edges. Use a suitable tripod, clip, or strap whenever possible.
- Do not cover the equipment during charging or prolonged use, and stop operation if you notice excessive heating, unusual odour, or unusual noises.
- Respect people's privacy and obtain permission before recording in sensitive spaces.
