Safety warnings and precautions
Main hazards
- Cuts and lacerations from contact with moving blades, discs, sanding sheets or other accessories.
- Flying chips, sparks and dust that can injure eyes and skin.
- Jamming, snagging or kickback that can cause loss of control of the tool.
- Sustained noise and vibration that may cause fatigue and discomfort to the hands and ears.
- Overheating of the accessory or the housing; risk of burns if touched after use.
- Risk of electric shock due to damaged cables, plugs or housings, or from use in damp environments.
- Battery hazards (overheating, leakage) if struck, punctured or charged improperly.
- In pneumatic models, hose whip or sudden disconnections due to incorrect pressure.
- Inhalation of fine dust (wood, metal, fillers) and possible respiratory irritation.
- Fire when working near flammable materials or where combustible dust has accumulated.
Safe use
- Before starting, check the overall condition: cable or hose, battery, housing, switch, and ensure there are no loose parts.
- Select accessories compatible with the model and the work material; discard those that are damaged or lack legible markings.
- Disconnect from the mains, remove the battery or release air pressure before fitting or changing accessories.
- Secure the accessory following the manufacturer's instructions and check that it is firmly fixed.
- Set the appropriate speed and do not exceed the accessory's rated speed; let the tool work without forcing it.
- Clamp the workpiece with clamps or a bench vice; keep both hands on the tool and maintain a stable stance.
- Keep cables and hoses away from the cutting or sanding area to prevent cuts and snags.
- Wear suitable safety goggles, hearing protection and a dust mask; wear close-fitting gloves only when appropriate, and avoid loose clothing.
- Work in well-ventilated areas or with dust extraction, and keep flammable materials away from the spark zone.
- Perform a brief no-load test to detect abnormal vibration; stop use if you notice unusual noises, sparks or a burning smell.
- Wait for a complete stop before setting the tool down and avoid touching the hot accessory.
Storage and maintenance
- Disconnect and, if applicable, remove the battery or release pressure before cleaning or making any adjustments.
- Clean dust from the housing, ventilation slots and tool holder with a brush or dry cloth; keep them free of obstructions.
- Periodically inspect wiring, plug, hoses, fittings and housings; do not use the tool if they show cuts, cracks or looseness.
- Check and replace worn or deformed accessories; store accessories in cases to prevent impacts.
- Check the tightness of the tool holder and interchangeable heads before each use.
- For battery-powered models: charge with the specified charger, on a non-flammable surface and with good ventilation; do not cover the charger or the battery.
- Allow the battery and tool to cool before charging or storing; protect the contacts and avoid loose metal objects in the same compartment.
- Store in a dry, clean place and out of the reach of children; avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- For pneumatic tools, purge the line and release pressure before disconnecting; if the model requires it, apply lubrication as per the manufacturer's instructions.
Restrictions on use
- Do not allow minors to use the tool; keep people unfamiliar with it and animals away during work.
- Do not operate when fatigued, under the influence of alcohol, or medications that reduce alertness.
- Do not use in damp environments, in the rain or near water, unless the model is specifically designed for it.
- Do not work in explosive atmospheres or near gases, solvents or combustible dust.
- Do not use incompatible or damaged accessories, or those without stated limits of use; do not improvise adapters.
- Do not exceed the tool's capacity or use it as a lever, chisel or hammer.
- Do not lock the switch in the on position or leave the tool unattended while it is connected or with the battery installed.
- Do not bring hands, clothing, hair or jewellery near moving parts; avoid bulky gloves.
- Do not direct compressed air at yourself or others; do not transport the tool by pulling the cable or hose.
- If there is abnormal vibration, excessive sparking, smoke or a burning smell, stop the tool, disconnect the power and check before continuing.
