Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Punctures and cuts from contact with the needle and nearby metal parts.
  • Finger entrapment under the presser foot or in the feed mechanisms and handwheel.
  • Ejection of fragments if the needle breaks, with potential eye injury.
  • Electrical risk from damaged cables, plugs or foot pedal, or from use with wet hands.
  • Overheating of the motor or lamp if the ventilation openings are blocked or due to prolonged use.
  • Hair, jewellery or loose clothing getting caught in moving parts.
  • Tripping hazards from the power lead or the pedal on the floor.
  • Risk of smoke or a burning smell due to lint build-up in the sewing area.

Safe use

  • Place the machine on a stable, level and well-lit surface.
  • Keep fingers away from the needle while sewing; use a finger guard if your model supports one.
  • Switch off and unplug before changing the needle, presser foot or bobbin, or when cleaning.
  • Guide the fabric without pulling it to avoid needle breakage and damage to the mechanism.
  • Tie back hair and avoid wide sleeves, bracelets or pendants near moving parts.
  • Control pedal speed gradually and always start slowly.
  • Keep the ventilation openings free of obstructions and free from lint build-up.
  • Avoid liquids near the equipment and always use with dry hands.
  • Use a socket in good condition and avoid overloaded multi-way adaptors or extension leads.
  • If you notice unusual noises, sparks, unusual vibrations or a burning smell, stop using it and unplug immediately.

Storage and maintenance

  • Unplug after each use and let the lamp area cool before covering or storing.
  • Periodically remove lint and thread debris from the sewing area and bobbin compartment with a dry brush.
  • Replace the needle regularly and dispose of it safely to avoid punctures.
  • Lubricate only if specified by the manufacturer and using the product recommended for your model.
  • Store the cable without straining it or over-bending, and protect the pedal from impacts and moisture.
  • Cover the machine and store it in a dry, dust-free place away from sources of heat or moisture.
  • Do not use solvents or flammable aerosols for cleaning.
  • Internal repairs or replacement of electrical components must be carried out by qualified technicians.

Restrictions on use

  • Not a toy: keep out of reach of children and pets; minors only with direct supervision.
  • Do not use outdoors, in bathrooms or in damp environments.
  • Do not use near open flames, or flammable gases, vapours or aerosols.
  • Do not modify the pedal or wiring, or remove guards or covers.
  • Do not use with bent or damaged needles, or incompatible accessories.
  • Avoid sewing materials that exceed the capability of the machine or multiple very dense layers without the appropriate accessories.
  • Do not leave the machine running unattended.
  • Stop using it if you are tired or your attention is impaired.
