Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Punctures or cuts from sharp tips and from pencil sharpener blades.
  • Wood splinters or pencil lead fragments that may cause minor injuries or eye irritation.
  • Choking hazard from small parts (erasers, caps, decorative accessories) or loose fragments, especially for children.
  • Irritation to eyes or mouth from sharpening dust.
  • Stubborn stains on clothing, furniture and other surfaces.
  • Possible irritation on sensitive skin from prolonged contact with coatings or erasers.

Safe use

  • Keep the point facing away from your face and body; do not run or play with pencils in your hand.
  • Sharpen with a suitable, stable pencil sharpener; avoid knives or other improvised tools.
  • Empty the sharpener's shavings container carefully and keep your fingers away from the blade.
  • Do not bite or suck pencils, erasers or caps.
  • Avoid applying excessive force when writing or drawing to reduce breakage and splinters.
  • If dust or fragments get into the eye, do not rub: rinse with clean water. If discomfort persists, seek medical attention.
  • For cuts or punctures, clean the area with soap and water; if the wound is deep or a fragment remains, seek medical attention.
  • For mechanical pencils, retract the lead when not in use to prevent punctures and breakage.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store pencils in a case or pencil holder with the tips protected.
  • Keep them out of reach of children under 3 years and pets.
  • Store in a dry place away from sources of heat or moisture to prevent warping and the deterioration of erasers.
  • Keep the pencil sharpener clean and replace it if it splinters the wood or cuts unevenly.
  • Dispose of shavings and broken leads in a bin; avoid leaving them on tables or the floor.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or inside closed vehicles.
  • Periodically check that caps, decorative accessories and erasers are securely attached.

Usage restrictions

  • Not suitable for children under 3 years due to choking and injury hazards; for older children, use under supervision.
  • Do not use the pencil as a tool to pierce, puncture, lever or open packaging.
  • Do not insert pencils into the mouth, nose or ears; do not use them on the skin, mucous membranes or on wounds.
  • Do not sharpen with knives or with power tools not designed for this purpose.
  • Do not heat, burn or expose to flames or sources of ignition.
  • Do not carry the pencil in pockets with the tip exposed; use a cap or case.
