Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Falls and impacts due to loss of balance or excessive speed.
- Collisions with pedestrians, cyclists, other skaters or obstacles.
- Poor grip on wet or polished surfaces, or those with sand, gravel or leaves.
- Loss of control on slopes, kerbs or sudden changes in level.
- Injuries due to incorrect fit, loose laces or worn/loosened parts (wheels, axles, brakes, buckles).
- Cuts from ice skate blades and pinches when handling buckles.
- Fatigue or overexertion that reduces reflexes and stability.
Safe use
- Wear a skating helmet and wrist, knee and elbow protection; consider gloves and a mouthguard depending on the activity.
- Tighten and fasten boots, laces and buckles properly; check the brake, wheels/axles or blades before setting off.
- Practise braking and turning first in flat, open areas; maintain a moderate speed and a safe distance.
- Avoid skating on roads or in traffic; use designated lanes, rinks or areas and respect the local direction of travel.
- Watch the surface: avoid grates, manhole covers, rails, potholes and puddles; reduce speed on smooth or wet surfaces.
- Improve your visibility at dusk or at night with high-visibility clothing, reflective elements or lights; keep music volume low.
- Do not hold on to vehicles or carry another person; avoid carrying objects in your hands that limit your reaction in a fall.
- With ice skates, fit blade guards when walking off the rink and keep clear of other blades when stopping.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean and dry the equipment after each use, especially if there has been moisture or ice, to prevent corrosion and odours.
- Frequently check the condition and tightness of screws, axles, wheels, brake, buckles and laces; replace worn parts.
- Keep the bearings clean and in good condition following the manufacturer's instructions; if they spin poorly or make noise, service or replace them.
- For ice skates, dry the blades thoroughly and use guards; do not store damp equipment in sealed bags.
- Store in a dry, ventilated place away from heat sources or direct sunlight; avoid leaving skates in the car at high temperatures.
- Keep the equipment out of the reach of children when not in use and protect the blades to prevent accidental cuts.
Restrictions on use
- Intended for recreational or sporting use; avoid jumps or extreme manoeuvres if the model is not designed for them.
- Children and beginners should skate with protective gear and under adult supervision in controlled environments.
- Do not use the equipment under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicines that impair reflexes or balance.
- Avoid use in low visibility, heavy rain, strong winds or on surfaces unsuitable for skating.
- Respect the size, fit and any load limits specified by the manufacturer; do not modify the product.
- Do not use on escalators, ramps not intended for skating, crowded indoor areas or places where it is prohibited.
