Warnings and safety precautions
Main risks
- Knocks, cuts and crush injuries when handling heavy parts or parts with sharp metal edges.
- Entrapment and ejected parts due to springs, tensioners, fans or other components under tension.
- Burns from hot surfaces on the engine, brakes or exhaust.
- Electric shocks, sparks or short circuits when working with the battery or wiring.
- Leaks of flammable or corrosive liquids and exposure to harmful vapours.
- Loss of vehicle control due to incompatibility or incorrect installation of key components.
- The vehicle may fall if it is inadequately supported during parts replacement.
- Eye or respiratory irritation from dust, rust or friction particles.
Safe use
- Check the replacement part is compatible with the make, model, engine and year; cross-check manufacturer references.
- Read and follow the replacement part instructions and the vehicle manual before starting.
- Work with the engine off and cool; disconnect the battery when working on electrical systems.
- Raise and secure the vehicle on a level surface using stable stands and chocks; do not rely solely on the lifting jack.
- Wear gloves, goggles and workwear; avoid rings or loose clothing.
- Keep the area ventilated and free of flames or sparks when handling fuel filters, tanks or lines.
- Observe the assembly order and the recommended torque settings; use threadlockers, gaskets or sealants only when specified.
- After installation, check for play, leaks and dashboard warning lights; carry out a low-speed test in a safe area.
- Dispose of waste and used fluids properly; do not pour them down the drain.
Storage and maintenance
- Keep spare parts in their packaging, in a clean, dry place, away from moisture and heat.
- Protect electrical and electronic components from impacts and moisture.
- Do not bend, crush or contaminate with grease any friction materials, belts, hoses or seals.
- Keep sealing surfaces clean; store gaskets, seals and filters protected from dust.
- Check manufacturing or expiry dates where applicable (e.g., fluids or batteries).
- Keep small parts and fasteners organised to avoid loss or mix-ups.
- Store out of reach of children and pets.
Restrictions on use
- Do not install parts that are damaged, deformed, corroded or whose packaging has been tampered with.
- Do not force, sand or drill a replacement part to make it fit; if it does not fit, it may be incompatible.
- Do not reuse bolts and screws, self-locking nuts, pins, gaskets or single-use clips when replacement is specified.
- Avoid mixing components with different specifications within the same system if it may affect performance.
- Do not work under the vehicle without proper supports, nor on unstable or sloping surfaces.
- Do not drive at normal speed immediately after a repair; check correct operation and increase speed progressively.
- Installation of safety-critical components (brakes, steering, suspension or airbags) should be carried out by qualified personnel.
