Main risks
- Entrapment of fingers, hair or clothing in the automatic feeder or feed rollers.
- Eye discomfort from direct exposure to the scanning light if used with the lid open.
- Risk of electric shock from spills, moisture, or damaged cables and plugs.
- Overheating if vents are covered or ventilation is blocked.
- Minor cuts from paper edges when handling stacks or clearing jams.
- Document damage due to jams or from feeding staples, clips or hard objects.
- Trips or accidental tugs due to poorly routed cabling.
Safe use
- Place the scanner on a firm, stable and level surface, leaving space for ventilation.
- Only connect using the adaptor or cable supplied or recommended by the manufacturer.
- Keep the lid closed during scanning and avoid looking directly at the light.
- Keep hands, hair, sleeves and accessories away from the paper feed path.
- Remove staples, paper clips and hard objects before scanning; smooth out folds to reduce jams.
- If a jam occurs, stop the device and follow the manufacturer’s procedure; do not pull the paper forcefully.
- Do not use the device with wet hands or near sinks; keep documents dry.
- Organise cables so they are not taut and do not cross walkways; unplug by pulling the plug, not the cable.
Storage and maintenance
- Switch off and unplug before cleaning or handling accessible parts.
- Clean the glass and guides with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth; do not spray liquid directly onto the device.
- For the feeder rollers, use suitable cleaning cloths or sheets as directed by the manufacturer.
- Keep the ventilation slots free of dust; do not use sharp objects.
- Store and transport in a dry place, protected from impacts, extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- If the model has a transport lock or protective cover, engage them before moving it.
- Periodically check cables and connectors; replace any damaged components.
- Do not place weight on the scanner or stack items that could press on the glass.
Restrictions on use
- Not a toy; keep out of reach of small children. Children should use it under supervision.
- Do not use outdoors in rain, in very humid environments or where condensation is present.
- Do not open the casing or attempt repairs; if it malfunctions, disconnect and seek qualified technical support.
- Do not cover the device or use it in enclosed spaces without adequate ventilation.
- Do not feed items other than suitable documents; avoid sheets with fresh adhesive, wet ink or very crumpled paper.
- Avoid using overloaded power strips or low-quality multi-adaptors.
- If the model includes a battery, do not expose it to heat, impacts or punctures and use only compatible chargers.
