Warnings and safety precautions
Main risks
- Driver distraction from system alerts, controls or displays.
- Pinching or impact injuries when fitting or removing steering wheel, pedal or wheel locks.
- Short circuits, overheating or battery discharge due to improper connections or standby consumption.
- Interference with steering, pedals, airbags or the driver’s field of view if the device is positioned incorrectly.
- Mounts or cables coming loose over bumps, during braking or on impact if not securely fastened.
- Damage to upholstery, dashboard, windows or wiring looms when drilling, sticking or routing cabling.
- Exposure to high-intensity siren sound, potentially causing discomfort or hearing damage in enclosed spaces.
- Privacy risks from cameras or trackers that are misconfigured or shared without control.
- Cuts or burns when using tools or handling the vehicle’s electrical system.
Safe use
- Check compatibility with your vehicle and read the product-specific instructions before installing or using.
- Follow the manufacturer’s recommended disconnection and reconnection procedure before working on power or wiring, to avoid sparking.
- Install devices without covering airbags, air vents, vehicle sensors or the driver’s view.
- Secure mounts firmly and route cables, avoiding slack, sharp edges and contact with moving or hot parts.
- Avoid makeshift splices; use connectors and protection (e.g., fuses) as specified by the manufacturer.
- Before driving, while stationary, check that any lock does not limit the turning of the steering wheel or the operation of pedals or levers.
- Perform initial tests in a safe area and learn how to quickly disable the system in case of a false alarm.
- Do not configure or handle the system while driving; adjust sensitivity and alerts with the vehicle stationary.
- Protect remotes and keys from impacts and moisture; replace batteries when necessary and check their range and responsiveness.
- If you lack experience in automotive electrics or mounting systems, consider installation by qualified personnel.
Storage and maintenance
- Periodically check fixings, cable ties, adhesives and wiring; replace any damaged or worn parts.
- Clean housings and sensors with a soft cloth; avoid harsh products and direct high-pressure jets on sirens or connectors.
- Keep connectors and splices dry and protected; check cable pass-through points to prevent chafing and corrosion.
- If the product has an app or firmware, update it when advised by the manufacturer and review sensitivity and notification settings.
- Store keys, remotes and cards in a safe, dry place away from the vehicle; do not leave them with the car’s documents.
- Lubricate locking mechanisms as recommended by the manufacturer and periodically check that they open and close smoothly.
- If the vehicle will remain unused, check the system’s possible standby consumption and, if necessary, use measures to maintain the battery.
- Enable service modes or temporarily disable the system when taking the car to a garage or car wash to avoid unintended activations.
Usage restrictions
- Not suitable for use by children; keep small parts and button cell batteries out of their reach due to risk of ingestion.
- Do not use the system if it shows visible damage, exposed wires, loose connectors or signs of overheating.
- Do not install or place devices in areas with airbags, pedals, the steering column, levers or in the driver’s field of view.
- Do not drill or cut bodywork, tanks, wiring looms or ducts without verifying their location; avoid routing cables next to moving or very hot parts.
- Do not block air vents, vehicle sensors, windscreen washer jets or other safety-related elements.
- Do not share codes, cards or app access with unauthorised persons; reset the system if you sell the vehicle.
- Do not place sirens or sounders close to the ear during tests.
- Avoid using cameras or recording features in ways that may invade other people’s privacy.
