Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Pinched fingers when opening or closing ring mechanisms, clips or metal levers.
- Minor cuts from cardboard/plastic edges or from the paper sheets themselves.
- Heavy folders falling from high shelves during handling or due to over-stacking.
- Sudden snapping of elastic bands or fasteners, potentially towards the face or eyes.
- Choking hazard for children from small parts, loose rubber bands or packaging bags.
- Flammability: paper, cardboard and some plastics burn easily if exposed to flames or intense heat.
- Staining or damage to documents due to moisture, liquids or inks that may transfer from the folder.
Safe use
- Open and close rings and clips slowly, keeping fingers away from the closing edge; use the lever if included.
- Do not overfill: distribute contents across several folders to avoid warping and sudden closures.
- Carry the folder securely closed; hold it by the spine or any provided handles and avoid sudden movements if it is full.
- Avoid putting your body weight on the folder or using it as a step or cutting surface.
- Keep folders away from drinks and moisture; use protective sleeves for water-sensitive documents.
- If the closure is elastic or magnetic, handle it gently and keep magnetic stripe cards and sensitive devices at some distance.
- When inserting or removing sheets, rest the folder on a stable surface to prevent it closing on your fingers.
Storage and maintenance
- Store in a dry, ventilated place, protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
- Avoid prolonged moisture; if it gets wet, dry it with a cloth and leave it open to air until no moisture remains.
- Do not make unstable stacks; place vertically on sturdy shelves or stack only to a low height if they are lightweight.
- Keep away from sources of ignition such as candles, radiators or cookers.
- Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth; avoid solvents, bleach and abrasive scourers.
- Periodically check rings, rivets, elastics and corners; if they are damaged or rusted, stop using the folder to prevent cuts and stains.
- Do not overload inner pockets or clear sleeves to prevent tearing.
Restrictions of use
- Not a toy; keep out of reach of children, especially under 3 years. During school use, adult supervision is recommended.
- Do not use to carry food, unsealed liquids, chemicals or sharp objects without adequate protection.
- Do not burn or expose to fire; at end of life, dispose of or recycle responsibly according to the material.
- Do not hang the folder with additional loads or subject it to tension by the elastic or the closure.
- If it shows mould, a persistent odour or sharp edges, do not use it and replace it.
